Good location, £10 for parking...
Liked: Location was good and the bed was large and comfortable
Disliked: The rooms were too hot even with the windows open which lead to an awful nights sleep, having to pay for their car park.

Liked: The main thing I really liked about The White House Hotel, is the location. It was perfect for my planned evening at The Marrs Bar in Pierpoint Street, as it’s just round the corner from venue. I went to see a Beatles tribute band there. It was easy to get to the shops, cafes and restaurants around the city. The building is grand and impressive, and I liked the buffet breakfast, which although it was not included in the price of the room, the food was all good and very tasty, so it was good value for what it cost.Another really special thing about The White House Hotel is that The Beatles actually stayed there in 1963, or so I have heard.
Disliked: There were a couple of things that were not ideal. There was no ‘personal’ feel to it - the staff were informative, if you had questions, however they were not particularly friendly. This may be what you would expect when staying in a main city hotel, as opposed to a B&B, though. There was a leak around one side of the toilet. When I first went in to use the en suite bathroom, I noticed a stream of water on the floor between the base of the toilet and the wall. I laid a couple of pieces of toilet paper down onto it, so that I wouldn’t forget it was there, and then tread onto it and get wet feet. Later when it reappeared after it dried out, I used the bath mat (the square piece of towelling you use to step onto, coming out of the bath). It prevented my feet from getting wet, however there was then, a musty smell of damp in there. To park at the hotel, it cost £10 per day. There were probably good reasons for this extra charge, and I’d rather pay the price to park there, than worry about my car being parked away from the accommodation. There was not much chance of getting a parking place anywhere else nearby, but it still wasn’t ideal, having that extra cost. Given the excellent location, though, it was still worth it.
