Not impressed. Would not spend the money to stay there again.
Liked: The doormen and the bellboy were pleasant and the atmosphere in the hotel for the most part was pleasant and pretty.
Disliked: Could not get into our rooms until 4:30. Check in was at 3pm. It stressed out my daughter because we were needing to get ready and eat and make it to her first concert at 6:00pm, a 15 minute cab ride away. The phone was broken, so I could never talk to the front desk without going downstairs. The faucet on the tub fell off in my hand, so I had to fix it repeatedly and had no time for someone to fix it since we were already running late.

I wouldn't say not to...
Liked: The female staff during the day were amazing, as was the restaurant staff. The evening gentleman was just snotty and rude. You could tell he hates his job. DO NOT expect your room to match what you see on their own hotel website. It is not as nice as the pictures. There is no concierge or room service despite what is advertised. No one to help with luggage, no readily available luggage carts. If you want something as simple as ice, you have to call the front desk and wait. You may or may not get it. The beds are very firm, like super firm. The blankets, sheets, and pillows are amazingly comfortable! Overall, it's an ok stay, but it definitely isn't what is advertised or comparable with the price tag.
Disliked: I didn't like that what was advertised and shown wasn't the experience. Simple, stupid stuff like advertising concierge, robes, and such, but they don't exist. That is annoying.

Good value in a great...
Liked: The staff at the Whitehall is invariably friendly and responsive.
Disliked: After many years of staying at the Whitehall, I was disappointed to discover that breakfast is now a serve-yourself buffet. Of course, the upside is that breakfast is included and you are free to return for seconds (and thirds!), but I do miss sitting down and being waited upon.

Good
Disliked: The lobby was very small The hotel restaurant wasn't very good and was very over pricedThe outside door is not handicap friendly so it was very difficult to push someone in a wheel chair though while holding bags. A door man would have been great at least during busy hours

Great location & views from...
Liked: It's about Location, we were lucky , if you like walking then I would say everything was in walking distance. Restaurants and cafeterias were literally around the corner. My first time in Chicago, the hotel provided all we needed since we were out most of the day. Safe location which is very important. The hotel is next to the Willis tower, a short walk to the lake and my favorite restaurant located below level of the Willis Tower was the Cheesecake Factory. Round the corner all the shops , malls and food places.
Disliked: The reception area was small, and if you wanted to unwind in an armchair at the lounge area, I found this small & rather cramped , but that's ok , we got by. No bottled water was provided in the room actually no water at all in the room . Which I found strange since there was coffee /tea / kettle facilities. We asked for filtered water but we got tap. And the restaurants fee for a small bottle of water was tremendous in price, so we purchased from a supermarket round the corner. Also there was lack of staff.
