A warm and relaxed family...

Liked: A lovely place to stay - this is our second visit. The bedrooms are comfortable and well appointed and, in particular, there is a ground floor bedroom which suited our party very well, as one of us has mobility issues. The food was also good - we had an evening meal as well as breakfast and both were lovely, with a good number of choices. The staff, however, do need special mention - they were excellent - without exception they were friendly, helpful and willing to ‘go the extra mile’ to make our stay a success. It was a real pleasure to stay at The Wheatsheaf.

Very good

Liked: I had the full Wheatsheaf breakfast which set me up for the day, I only had a drink at lunchtime. The restaurant decor was interesting. Dinner the previous night was good as well.t
Disliked: We were very hot at bedtime so initially slept on top of the bedclothes. It was a toss up whether to shut the windows and swelter, or leave windows open and get disturbed by noise. The latter won and the noise was negligible.. Later on it was colder and the bedclothes came into use.

Ok but need to keep...

Liked: The hotel was lovely, nicely decorated, central location in town.Evening meal was yummy and evening staff were great and very helpful.
Disliked: I was travelling for a wedding and my sisters had booked a room at the same hotel. I asked to be in a room near to them when making the booking and received an email back from the hotel confirming I would be in an adjacent room. However on arrival, I was in the main hotel, whilst my sisters were in the annex building accessed from the car park..: meaning multiple trips with bags and suitcases between the rooms as we were getting ready, which wasn’t great, especially when the hotel had said this would be arranged. The hotel rooms were excessively warm - there was no air con. A small fan was provided but this did nothing to ease the heat in the rooms. This made sleep difficult!Tea/coffee facilities were provided but there was no milk on either room.Breakfast staff were a little rude.
