Liked: Room was excellent; bed was amazing.
Disliked: Bar was closed by the time we got out of the concert. Wish they had 24 hour room service; wish staff were more informative; nothing in the room to tell us where anything was, not even a phone book. We ended up eating at Subway. We didn't know we had to make a reservation to eat.

Great location, but mixed reviews...

Liked: Beautiful location and grandiose old building. Convenient to have a restaurant that is open all the time.
Disliked: Very uneven quality of service, greeting at the checkin was excellent, service at the restaurant was mediocre and uneven. One server was great and one was terrible. The food arrived lukewarm for room service and was vastly overpriced.

Except for the wrong charges...

Liked: I liked the Location and friendly staff
Disliked: I got overcharged and tried to fixed it at the time of charge but no one could. Had to follow up myself to make sure my charges was fixed . The gentleman assured me he Would make notes And have the manager contact me. Didn’t happen !

Great location, clean and friendly....

Liked: A lot of charm, historic hotel updated, and did a good job on the interior. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Valet drivers were super cool, and let my car 'stand' outside while we checked in, and I went to park it elsewhere. Front desk automatically 'upgraded' us to a junior suite, seemingly from being a long-time Bonvoy member. Location is ideal if you're going to the opera, or to San Jose Civic for an event. I also loved the vending machines in the basement by the gym with snacks, drinks that matter (e.g. energy drinks, coffee, etc), and sundries like deodorant, USB chargers, and other person things commonly forgotten that you HAVE TO HAVE in the moment. :)
Disliked: Upgraded was in quotes, because our room was on the second floor. The road noise was terrible, and lots of 'show-off' cars on a Saturday night coming through the intersection. Loud exhaust, revving, big stereos, etc. It seemed as if the windows have not been upgraded because it was very loud in the room. In addition, there is this 'banging' sound that goes all night. Like pipes in the walls or something, but it doesn't stop. Also, we normally manually turn on the fan of the A/C unit to help drown out noise. There is NO setting for that on this thermostat, it's all auto, and you cannot manually turn on the fan like you can in most every other hotel room I've been in. My wife and I both ended up having to use ear plugs to sleep.

Bad experience, noise was bad,...

Liked: Location was decent, valet was pleasant.
Disliked: Horrible check in experience, rude front desk staff. Annoyed with every question of clarification I asked. And check out just as bad. 4th floor was extremely loud, could hear all the sounds from other rooms.

Ok

Liked: Lot was across street had to pay for over night was close to the location we need to go to that night
Disliked: Roach in room the check in transparency was charged before I arrive for entire room cost for one night then had to hold $250 for deposit and very old smell and rusty sink the soap for shower was empty almost water not hot just warm not many tv channel ands could hear everything in a jointing rooms
