We would like to thank the Westin for a beautiful stay in the luxurious room for our Anniversary with an upgrade at a discounted rate. The hotel is very clean, well set up, and staff are extremely nice and helpful. Close to Parliament Hill, seen from room and across the street from Winterlude. The brunch at their restaurant is absolutely great with good service. Would recommend to friends and family any time and will be returning for future celebrations.

Liked: Location, view, cleanliness, security, and the staff was super accommodating when we had special requests at the last minute.

Elevator noise

Liked: Don't stay here. The elevator machinery constantly made so much noise we could not sleep at all. The hotel was fully booked because of a special event and we could not change rooms.

Liked: Everything especially the location of the hotel. We have two connecting rooms on high floor facing Parliament hills! The views were simply amazing! Hotel staff are super friendly. Beds are super comfortable. Location of the hotel cannot be beaten. Right in the centre of the city… close to Parliament hills and Byward market. Hotel has direct link to Rideau Centre shopping Mall! Incredible stay!

Disappointing

Liked: The location was very close to the conference venue.
Disliked: While the Westin Ottawa is marketed as a premium hotel, my experience fell short in several key areas. The room lacked basic comforts such as a proper snack bar, kettle, mugs or ceramic cups for hot drinks (only plastic ones were provided), slippers, and essential toiletries like bar soap and body lotion. Room service and breakfast were not included, which came as a surprise for the price. The breakfast option that was available was overpriced and underwhelming. The third-floor café had extremely limited choices and closed at 1 p.m., which was inconvenient for anyone attending conferences or working late mornings.The in-room coffee maker was outdated and not suitable for a quality stay. A selection of teabags and instant coffee sachets would have been much more useful. One of the power outlets at the desk didn’t work either, which was frustrating during work hours. We also found the Eat Well room service menu to be overpriced, and the "full breakfast" consisted only of ham, eggs, and unusually tiny, chip-like hash browns — not a satisfying or practical meal.Another issue that caused real frustration was the hotel’s pre-authorization of the entire four-night stay at check-in. This locked up our full credit limit with no flexibility — even though one of us needed to check out early due to a change of plans. We were told this wasn’t possible because the full amount had already been pre-authorized. This kind of rigid policy is especially unreasonable for business travelers, whose schedules can shift last-minute.Unfortunately, none of these details were clearly mentioned on Booking.com prior to booking. Had I known about the full-stay pre-authorization, lack of included breakfast, or absence of amenities like slippers and kettles, I absolutely would have chosen a different hotel.Overall, for such a high price point, the experience did not reflect the quality presented in the hotel’s advertising or Booking.com listing.
