Short stay in Leipzig
Liked: Great property Comfortable bedGreat sleepLove the robesThe restaurant Gusto is great The bar at the top is a highlight
Disliked: Room was not cleaned during our stay , it could be my fault as I did not say at reception that I wanted the room cleaned and made. Still there was no way to let know the staff in the room that I wanted the room to be made. Also I found strange that there is no fridges. Parking, I selected the hotel for the free parking, I was charged 50 eur for 2 days . The hotel should have advise upon arrival.

Superb
Liked: Big building with quite comfy rooms. Nice bed and nice bath in bathroom. Good to have tea and coffee facilities in the room too.

Lovely, clean, high end hotel,...
Liked: The Westin is a lovely hotel, perfectly walkable from the HBf. It is clean, elegant and the staff were friendly and helpful. Top tier!
Disliked: The room had one massive flaw - there were no power outlets by the bed! No power outlets anywhere! A huge mistake for any hotel in 2025, let alone a hotel of this stature. No USB ports whatsoever. To crawl on the floor, under a desk, to plug in a phone charger is simply unacceptable in 2025.

as expected, lovely, friendly staff,...
Liked: it was just easy.
Disliked: My daughter didn't like the pool. She was scared. But she is 9 years old and we went to the pool at 10 pm.So no complaints.

Exceptional
Liked: I was very satisfied with all aspects. The staff were very friendly and helpful (and patient as I tried to communicate in German), the food at the breakfast and at the hotel restaurant was delicious, the room was very comfortable and beautiful, the hotel was clean, and it was in a fantastic location - only 6 minutes from the Bahnhof and 6 minutes from the Kongresshalle. No complaints!
Disliked: No complaints! I was very satisfied

A luxury DDR era hotel...
Liked: A very impressive DDR era hotel built for Intourist by a consortium of DDR/FRD/Japanese concerns to a high standard, originally opening as the Hotel Merkur in 1981. We had a very nice nice sized room with a great 18th floor view out over the city centre and well beyond. Room came with German idea of a double bed, armchair, desk with chair, fridge, TV, storage space, plus kettle and coffee machine (a rarity in Germany). Decent sized bathroom with a bath/shower.
Disliked: The German idea of a double bed, two single mattresses side by side on a double frame, a regular annoyance in German hotels.

Great hotel in superb location
Liked: Five minute walk from the Hauptbahnhof and super-easy to find (tall building with 27 or so floors stands right out - also has a bright red label!). Comfortable and quiet room with fantastic view of the city. Excellent bathroom. Lovely scented products in bathroom. Coffee machine (nespresso). Everything working well. Everything spotless. Staff helpful and friendly.
Disliked: For me, coming from a warmer location to the south, the room was quite cold at night despite it being June. There was only one relatively thin blanket in the cupboard to add to the bed. Think the room was only about 18 degrees, but as I'm acclimatised to much warmer I shivered and even after adding the blanket provided I had to add a thermal top and pair of socks to actually sleep. Yes, I could have asked for another blanket but managed - I want to say it though as I think they need to consider that not all their guests hail from northern or western Europe. Perhaps consider having at least two blankets (it was a double room with two separate bed quilts after all!). Room was also quite expensive, although I do think the price was inflated because it was a festival weekend.
