Found a new stop over...

Liked: Superb village setting just an hour from Central London. The Wellington had plenty of rustic charm and the staff were engaging and very attentive. The food was enticing and paired nicely with a range of wines to compliment
Disliked: The ONLY dissapointment... coming from the North, was they didn't have any Black Pudding on the English breakfast. However, the quality of the fare was spot on!

Historic pub stay in charming...

Liked: Loved our bedroom (3) with its amazing high ceilings and wooden beams, stand-alone roll top bath in the bedroom and large, comfortable sleigh bed. Pub itself was full of character and charm, with welcoming, friendly and efficient staff, excellent selection of drinks including 2-4-1 cocktails 4-6pm most afternoons (excellent espresso martinis!) and sunny beer garden, plus free parking at the back of the pub. The pub was right in the heart of small but perfectly-formed classic English village, with interesting shops, about six other pubs (I can recommend the beer garden and pub quiz at the nearby Rose and Crown!) and historic church across the road.
Disliked: Small WC tucked in the corner behind opaque glass in the bedroom didn't give much privacy though hence a 9/10 overall rating rather than 10/10 but it was fine as there are toilets downstairs in the pub.
