Advantages outweigh the negatives!

Liked: Been coming here for years.Great location- by the beautiful Tweed river. Helpful reception staff. Decent rooms if renovated which most seem to be now.Carol does a good job of looking after you in the Dining Room. Wholesome breakfast .You do need to be aware of the full on coach parties who use the hotel. Early breakfasts equals early noise near the Dining room. And a busy eating experience with a full room.
Disliked: With coach party use- it’s a bit overpowering for the private guests. Noisy and packed dining room. Reminds me of school dinners ( a long time ago mind!).

Perfect Location for Tempest Brewery...

Liked: Booked a one night stay for one person, as it was close to the location i needed to be at, reception staff was very friendly, the room was a bit dated and small, but to be fair i think this hotel is more for older guests, i would stay again if i was back at the location i was attending i think £95 was a bit steep for one night, but like i say the location was perfect for (the tempest brewery tap room) where i was attending, the bus that pulled in at 6.30am on a sunday morning was right outside my window, but all in all, yes i would return

Bad

Disliked: complaining about the hotel. 10 minutes we waited before someone came to the desk to check us in. Whilst I have no complaints about the bedding the rooms are tired and dated with stained carpets. We complained about the non existent hot water and were told to run it for 5 min before hot water would appear. After 5 min all we got was luke warm water at best . As I booked with you it is your responsibility as the booking agent to address the issue . £105 for a very substandard room is not acceptable and I would like compensation please . A 5hr drive to be met with such conditions is not acceptable

Pleasant

Liked: Location was great. Impressive building , lovely grounds. Very nice staff. The price was good.
Disliked: Bus parties ! There were at least 5 coaches in the hotel the night we stayed. The whole hotel is geared to them. Activity boards in foyer , bus company merchandise for sale. Had we known this, we would never have stayed there. Breakfast was extremely limited , only on for 1 hour and geared to mass catering with limited choice. We went out to dinner as the £20 dinner menu was again extremely limited for the same reasons. The room was also not very clean, badly stained carpet and tired bathroom. There was a lot of noise in the hotel in general.
