A hotel full of charm...

Liked: The hotel itself is a stunning building brimming with character, perfectly located just a short stroll from all the nearby attractions. A special shout-out goes to the bar team, charming, chatty, and welcoming
Disliked: From the moment we arrived, the welcome felt a little… scripted. When I asked about parking, the staff member dutifully mentioned the small lot outside and, if that was full, then that was it.. When we asked for other options, they pointed us to the nearest garage, practical advice, yes, but delivered with all the flair of someone reading tomorrow’s weather report. On receiving our keys, we opened the door to find a room not quite ready for its close-up, let’s just say it had lived a little. Still dirty! These things can happen, of course, but when we returned to reception, the response was again more rehearsed than reassuring. Just, We will clean it.It’s a pity because the hotel itself has such beauty, history, and character, the sort of place that deserves staff who sparkle just as much as the building. Perhaps it was simply an off day, but as the saying goes, you’re only as good as your last guest. On this occasion, it felt rather like they wouldn’t have minded whether we stayed or vanished.Breakfast the next morning followed a similar theme. With the breakfast room fully booked, we made ourselves comfortable in the room between the bar and lobby, which was cosy enough. Unfortunately, every table was dirty, a clear sign of just how busy the morning had been. By the time we reached the buffet around 9 a.m., it was nearly empty, the coffee was closer to weak tea, and the bacon and sausages had been cooked well past their prime. Another thing that took us for surprise, when the breakfast staff was cleaning the dirty tables around us, she flipped the tablecloth, so the dirty side was facing the table... When you could see the coffee stain through and laid the table like nothing had happened. Interesting.

Lovely hotel but very very...

Liked: Lovely building & location. Staff also very lovely
Disliked: The noise. We were given a room on the ground floor in the annex because it is more accessible for my partner, which was very thoughtful. However, the people staying in the room above us were extremely loud, playing music, the tv was on, all their windows open and we could hear every word they were saying. We asked the night manager three times to speak to them and ask them to be quiet (it was gone midnight). After our third complaint, he told us he couldn’t hear any noise, that nothing could be done and we’d have to take it up with the reception team in the morning. The hotel was fully booked so we couldn’t even be moved to a quieter part of the hotel. The next morning we missed breakfast as a result of very little sleep and when we spoke to the receptionist, we were told their manager would be notified and we’d be contacted with a resolution. It’s been five days and we’ve heard nothing. Very disappointing and definitely won’t be staying again. Would not recommend.
