Nice hotel, expected better service...

Liked: Spacious modern and clean bedrooms. Those with park view are able to watch the Disney fireworks in the evening. Children's pool downstairs and adult only pool upstairs. Nice adult only roof terrace with good views across Disney. Good downstairs coffee and snack bar. Valets were on the ball.
Disliked: Not surprisingly lots of families and children as it's so close to Disney so no peace in the mornings/evenings. Windows were filthy in our room so although it's advertised as having a park view it was impossible to take pictures. We booked dinner one evening in the roof top restaurant to watch the fireworks. A party of 8 so you can imagine we spent quite a considerable amount. We were seated around a lovely firepit, only to have another couple then seated right in front of us (and the view), making it awkward for both parties. Also everything closes rather early including the bars and restaurant. Apart from the gentleman in the restaurant bar, Staff in the restaurant didn't seem that knowledgeable about what was on offer (we were offered conflicting views), and they were not particularly keen to provide a good service, given the prices they were charging. Also, when the children came back from Disney the pool was crazily busy (although this was on 4 July which may be why), and there was lots of hair floating around in it, which wasn't a pleasant experience.

Liked: Quality of the hotel and rooms. Location near to Disney and easy commute to California beaches.

Disappointing

Liked: We liked the convenience of being semi close to Disneyland / Ca Adventures. We wish it was within walking distance (closer proximity) but since we drove to the parks anyway, it being one exit away, about a mile via car, it wasn’t bad. While we didn’t get a good view., I like that the rooms have views of the parks but we didn’t want to pay extra just for a view so we settled on a view of a parking lot behind the hotel lol.
Disliked: Our stay at The Viv was just okay, 2.5 out of 5 but unable to leave half reviews on Yelp so there's that. We wanted to stay at this hotel for a while now and we finally were able to for our vacation! While the hotel is less than a mile from Disneyland by car it's not the closest hotel to Disneyland. When we arrived earlier than expected around 11, we were told there were no rooms available for early check in and to come back around 2. I called around 145ish - and they suddenly had a room available. The early check in fee is extremely high, $75. We check in and the rooms were just okay. While the room is newer it is still pretty "old and worn in". There were a lot of marks and stains on floor, in the room / bathroom and on the floors, the bathroom sink drain clogged up, our phone in the room didn't work (we had to call the front desk from our cellphone), housekeeping never answered when we tried calling them (from our cellphone). Parking is extremely high. It's self parking and you can either pay daily yourself and or when you checkout. There is a $25 credit resort fee you're able to spend at the store in the hotel and or one of the restaurants (inside or at the pool). Each time we went to the store they were on break or lunch or closed. It's really inconvenient way for you to not be able to use the funds as they are use it or lose it and you can't use them on the day of check out. We really wanted to love this hotel and aren't sure if we would give it another try! We travel to the area a lot for family and for Disneyland vacations and are looking for a hotel that we can stay at regularly. We hoped the Viv was it but there was a lot of disappointment for the expensive price that we paid for the room. I prepaid the room ($600 for 4 days/3nights) and ended up paying an additional $250 due to parking, early check in and other fees. Definitely not worth the price!
