Exceptional

Ok for one night.

Liked: Breakfast average. Was just average hotel.
Disliked: Bed was hard and uncomfortable, both of us kept waking up.

Very good

Liked: Our room was v cold .. the bathroom was freezing. We just thought the heater could have been put on before we arrived!
Disliked: Cold room and freezing bathroom

Afternoon tea at the Vine.

Liked: Visited for nostalgic reasons. Still a lovely setting. Thought there might be somewhere to relax overlooking the garden. No comfortable chairs anywhere. Not even in the bedroom. Staff all pleasant. The whole place is geared more to being a pub and less to a hotel.
Disliked: It was downgraded for me because of the cheapest available jams , fruit juice , biscuits etc used in the dining room. It could be 4star if it improved the quality. Put a comfy chair in the bedroom and create a lounge overlooking the garden.

Disliked: Access was difficult for the elderly - stairs were narrow and winding
