Over night stop. Not nice

Liked: Not much, see below. To be fair, the bed was comfy and the towels were nice. Breakfast was good. Bar and restaurant area was okay
Disliked: The bedroom was very tired and grubby and the toilet was gross. Torn wall paper in the bedroom plus dirty carpet and the bed frame was filthy. The lamp was ripped. The room also smelt and the light did not work. Paintwork was chipped, wall was cracked, paint was peeling off the walls, carpets very dirty throughout the hotel and it all felt really grim and depressing . No aircon so the room was boiling and opening the windows (one of which was broken so would not stay open) meant the main road noise and the kitchen vent made for constant noise. A fan was provided in one of our rooms (not the other) but it was so thick with dust, it was totally disgusting. No toiletries were provided other than cheap soap in a dispenser and the shower was so small you could hardly move in there. When we saw how bad it was we tried to cancel the booking as it was so bad but whilst the manager was very polite, they would not agree to refund the money (which was £100 per room!) as we booked through booking.com Wasn’t worth even half of that. Breakfast was okay until they started hoovering the carpets around as we ate! Not conducive to a relaxing breakfast. The outside patio was also grubby, smeared glass on tables and glass surround with used serviettes left to blow around. At least three staff walked past the serviettes and ignored them. Dirty glass left on tables and it wasn’t even busy so they should have been cleared.
