Pleasant

Liked: My teenage daughter and I stayed in a twin room on a B&B basis. Beds were comfortable and the bedroom itself was a good size. The location is good for the centre of Oundle. The staff are lovely - very friendly and professional. Clean rooms. Buffet breakfast choice was limited but sufficient for our needs. The hotel itself is a beautiful old building with lots of charm and character.
Disliked: Breakfast was not served before 8am, which was surprising and sadly not ideal for our timings (not sure if this is because it was a Sunday). I was told the chef did not arrive until 7:30am, but this is a large hotel in the centre of town. No doubt it has the 8am breakfast time somewhere on the website but I didn't check this as I assume breakfast would be served earlier. Our bathroom was cramped and not very modern. For the price we paid I would have expected a little better. Also, real lack of power sockets in the bedroom.

Superb

Liked: An historic coaching inn in a quiet location in the centre of a beautiful town. Our room was huge with a comfortable bed and very modern bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Brilliant stay - room/ breakfast...

Liked: Great location . Parking . Breakfast was lovely . Period features were great. Such a comfortable bed .
Disliked: Being picky - room was slightly too hot for us - but just turned the radiators off. Loved the free standing bath and such a comfortable bed

A nice splurge

Liked: Beautiful old Inn with tons of charm on the outside and in the garden areas. Bathroom was huge and well appointed. Delicious meals. Soft classical music playing in our room upon arrival.
Disliked: Our room could have used a lamp to read by other than just at bedside. Hotel parking lot was difficult to find. I was just shouted at “LEFT! LEFT!” When asking how to get to the lot. Other staff members were all lovely though

COUPLES RETREAT

Liked: Beautiful unspoilt building.
Disliked: Given the size of the bathroom I’d say the shower could’ve been a lot bigger as pretty cramped!

Nice location but the evening...

Liked: Character and location. Reception were very helpful.
Disliked: Dinner at the restaurant. Overpriced and unhelpful staff. My Salmon and Edamame salad had no edamame. When I asked nothing was done and no apology. I had two courses, soup and a salad with missing food, and came away with a bill for almost £50.
