Disliked: Car parking a bit tight! But we eventually sorted that.

Glorious location, hotel needs a...

Liked: The location and building are fabulous. Individual staff are friendly and helpful. The bedroom and bathroom were well set up and nicely decorated. Great circular walk to next village. Incredibly dog friendly which we and hound loved. Some lovely touches eg small vases of wild flowers on each table in the bar and brasserie.
Disliked: Food and service should be great esp at the prices, but they're not yet there. Kitchen is heavy handed on the seasoning and spicing. Service is uncoordinated resulting in confusions and delays over orders. For the price range and target clientele, there are other points where attention to detail is lacking. Bed is too hard and needs a mattress topper. Shower screen doesnt fit properly. Also a shame to not have a guaranteed parking space if youre an overnight guest.

Great location but you pay...

Liked: Location perfect for dusk and dawn photography in summer. Spectacular private garden for guest use only. Quite good dinner but exceptionally good breakfast.
Disliked: Very hot re no air conditioning. Lift only to first floor so difficult if you are from overseas with large bags.

Authentic Cotswold Charm

Liked: The Swan is perched at the edge of an idyllic Cotswold village. We had the Whooper cottage. It was beautifully decorated and had a lovely hot tub in its private courtyard. A huge, modern two-person shower and a giant bath tub made this cottage wonderful. There was also a pleasant sitting area, both inside the cottage and on a sunny patio.
Disliked: With all the good intentions in the world, as well as a very good chef, nothing replaces good service staff and a proper restaurant manager. The seemingly "new" staff tried hard, I'll give them that. The server from Romania held things together as far as she could. Perhaps she should be the manager(?) In any case, service was quirky. Breakfast was a poor flow at the buffet and getting bread was a mystery. But, when the food arrived, it was delicious. Two other things were strange: the refrigerator was wrongly chosen for a cottage. All sorts of funny noises and heater noise went on all through the night. It was all interesting but I didn't sleep well.
