Comfortable and central but housekeeping...

Liked: Very comfortable room, but the mirror light in the bathroom and therefore the bathroom extractor did not function, which was disappointing in a hotel of this type, where we were told that an engineer checked the rooms every day - (except ours apparently!)
Disliked: As above

Passable

Liked: Great location. Helpful staff.
Disliked: Intermittent noise from outside (over something that made loud noise when a car drove over it) and another room was clearly having a sexy evening! Several things on menu unavailable. Breakfast coffee was very weak.

An enjoyable stay in Wells

Liked: Good choice on breakfast menu, not a buffet.Centrally located hotel in Wells town with parking.
Disliked: A minor point, the bar could have been furnished more sympathetic to the age of the building, it lacked atmosphere.

Poor

Liked: The room was OK and the staff servicing the room were efficient and friendly.
Disliked: The restaurant - the quality of the food was awful. Extremely fatty lamb that wasn't served very hot and a whole plaice that seemed to have been 'cooked' from frozen so was very mushy rather than succulent and it was very bland although upon complaining the meal was given as complimentary. However, I would have preferred an enjoyable meal and experience. The wines on the wine list were not available and substitutes were offered. Pigeons and their droppings in the foyer to the annexe section of the hotel where we were staying - on arrival a pigeon flew out of the entance door as it was opened which was most unexpected! Plus there was a strong aroma of pigeon as you entered the annexe building making it an unpleasant experience when either entering or leaving the hotel room.
