Exceptional

Whole hotel needs a refresh....

Liked: Meal in pub was fine. Woman in reception understood our disappointment and waived our meal cost.
Disliked: So disappointed. We paid £240 for a bog standard room which was noisy and filthy. Thankfully we hadn't paid extra for the relaxing spa experience as there was loud dance music blaring out from speakers in the spa area, which we could hear in our room. In the room there was thick dust coating the bed head and all soft furnishings were covered in dirt and stains (photos attached) so we couldn't sit on them (same with the guest chairs in reception, which also had holes in them). Unbelievably noisy from outside and in. Party going on til 11pm with loud music and drunken people shouting in the corridor. Short staffed at breakfast (although 2 staff members on duty were great), but again, tired surroundings with wallpaper peeling off wall, scuffs and chips everywhere.

Overall a great place to...

Liked: I’ve stayed many times here over the years and I’m always happy with the location and overall atmosphere of the hotel.
Disliked: Thought the reception staff were unwelcoming … and my Breakfast ( scrambled eggs) were disgraceful.

Lovely location

Liked: Location, pool area, outdoor seating by the river
Disliked: The bathroom - mould on ceiling, faulty shower seal, tiny claustrophobic bathroom, no fridge (warm water left in room), cobwebs, fly issue in dining area, not value for money (lakes prices, not lakes standard), due for a refurb, tatty in places.

Disliked: Our room was generally great but the mini bar fridge was warm and so much dust around it which was very poor and disappointing.
