The Spotlight on The Swan by Innkeeper's Collection

Charming countryside stay just minutes from the music

The Swan by Innkeeper's Collection offers a cozy, traditional escape in the historic market town of Coleshill. Just a 10-minute drive from Birmingham NEC and 15 minutes from Birmingham city centre, it's a peaceful spot surrounded by rolling countryside—perfect for winding down after a loud night out.

Rooms are bright and warmly decorated with a classic pub-lodge vibe. Guests enjoy free parking, comfortable en-suite rooms, and the convenience of an on-site Stonehouse Pizza & Carvery serving up hearty British fare.

Why Concert-goers love it

The Swan is just a short drive or taxi ride from Birmingham NEC and Resorts World Arena, making it a handy base for gigs and events. Being set in a quieter town means you’ll escape the post-show chaos and enjoy a restful night’s sleep. With check-out at 12:00, there’s time to recover after late-night encores. Plus, with West Orton Rail Station just 2.5 miles away and Birmingham Airport only 5 miles out, getting in and out is easy—even late at night.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends wanting a relaxed pre/post-show hangout
  • Solo travelers looking for a safe and peaceful stay
  • Couples making a romantic weekend of a concert
  • Fans needing a quiet recovery space after the show
  • Budget-conscious music lovers seeking value without sacrificing comfort

Food and Drink Options

The on-site Stonehouse Pizza & Carvery pub serves up piping hot pizzas, traditional roasts, and classic pub dishes all day. While there's no 24/7 room service or late-night menu, the hearty meals and casual dining environment hit the spot before or after a show. Early riser or late sleeper? Breakfast is available to help you refuel after a night out.

Nightlife Options

This isn’t a party hotel, but that’s part of its charm. The on-site pub is a lively, social spot for a pre-gig pint or relaxed evening in. For more nightlife, Birmingham’s clubs, bars, and live music venues are just a short drive away.

What People Say

Guests love the friendly staff, comfortable rooms, and the great value for money. Many mention how easy it is to get to the NEC and appreciate the peaceful location after a hectic concert. The free parking and countryside charm also get frequent praise.

Areas for Improvement

This is an older building, so soundproofing isn’t perfect—light sleepers, bring earplugs. There's no lift, so those with mobility issues may want to request a ground-floor room. And while the pub is great, food options are limited late at night.

The Bottom Line

If you're looking for an affordable, comfortable base near Birmingham NEC with a cozy pub vibe and quiet surroundings, The Swan by Innkeeper's Collection is a solid pick for concert-goers.

The staff were pleasant, cooked...

Liked: Breakfast was buffet style, hot and plentiful. Tea and coffee was complimentary.Location was good for me as i was attending a wedding nearby. The parking was confusing as it was at the rear of the hotel so you had to drive around the block to access it. It .might have been helpful to be,advised of this in the multitude of emails I was sent prior to staying.
Disliked: The bed was rock hard, ridiculously hard, I would not stay again purely due to that. A lot of the other wedding guests were complaining their beds were uncomfortably hard, so it wasn't just mine. Shame really. The room and bathroom were very clean, the bedroom was dark, not helped by very dark paint on the walls and just two wall lights, one at either end of the room. There was a small window but it didn't let in .uch light.

Good price, good food, clean...

Liked: the room was clean and a good size, and the bathroom was large and well let. The bed was large and comfortable with enough pillows. The staff were very helpful. Buffet breakfast was all you can eat and a good selection, although drinks apart from tea and coffee were extra.
Disliked: The room had no lighting beyond two small lights either side of the bed. This meant it was too dark to work at the desk or read anywhere apart from at the pillow end of the bed in the evening. A desk lamp, floor lamp, or more fixed lights are needed. When I arrived all the towels appeard to be clean, but were all wet- the staff were quick to fix this though. The room had no fans or airconditioning.

Looks are deceiving .. paid...

Liked: Rooms were very good and the staff very helpful
Disliked: The outside doesn’t give the right impression and disabled facilities. Stairs to rooms no lift . Had to asked to be moved to first floor as family member could not do all the stairs. They were very accommodating and helpful ⭐️

Noisy but otherwise comfortable and...

Liked: Basic hotel - but convenient location, reasonably priced, and familiar. Nice decor and bathroom. Great hot buffet breakfast available with good coffee.
Disliked: The hotel, being attached to a pub, can be noisy until closing time - and then as people leave en masse at closing time, especially at the weekend. Guest rooms are generally further away from the worst of the noise thankfully.Checking in - done at the hotel bar - can involve a bit of a wait if the bar is busy, even if already completed online. Not sure there’s any way around that though as it’s not a large hotel so staff have to perform multiple functions. It may seem unfair to be complaining about the hotel when it is sheer bad luck to have been surrounded by guests who don’t know how to behave appropriately in a hotel. Except that my room was apparently allocated in the midst of a group booking and I was literally surrounded. Loud conversations in the corridor outside my room late at night (which is how I knew I was going to be treated to an 06.40 wake up on Saturday morning); noisy coming and going between rooms; and the couple in the room next to me carrying on a loud conversation until gone midnight. The walls of the hotel are apparently paper thin. I had ear plugs in and was still disturbed. So some better sound insulation might be a wise and necessary investment on the part of the hotel (I did my part by bringing ear plugs!). And better thought needs to be given to how and where rooms are allocated by staff.I’ve stayed here numerous times as my mother’s apartment is close by and we treat it like an extra bedroom when family or friends are in town. My two most recent stays have had issues though (last week I was allocated a ‘Twin’ when I’d booked a ‘Double’ though this was resolved quickly and with a minimum of fuss, even late at night). And my shower only had half a door so made a mess (Both shower doors present for this stay)I dare say that I will stay here again - but there are other options in Coleshill, similarly priced, if these issues persist.
