A great place for a...

Liked: We were welcomed by a very friendly staff member who explained all about what to expect on our short stay. The room was adequate for our needs with a comfortable bed. The small bathroom had clearly been updated with a good shower. The only issue with room 8 was that the mirror above the wash basin was set for taller people. Shaving was done on tiptoe! Also, the shelf above the basin was deeper than expected and created a problem when having to bend over the basin to rinse out after cleaning teeth or rinsing off after shaving. An excellent range of breakfast food was provided and the staff member efficiently worked away providing excellent and prompt service.
Disliked: I intended mentioning the issue with the bathroom but there was no staff member on duty as we left. Dinner was provided in the adjacent Castle Brew House, which was clearly a favourite with locals and visitors. Unfortunately, service was not the best and the one front of house staff member was stretched to provide a more effective service. Having waited for a significant amount of time after placing our order, watching as others who had ordered around the time we placed ours, I eventually had to ask for an update. I was disappointed as my first choice on the menu was not available.

Disliked: Dusty, small, smelly room. Mattress needed replacing. Noise from front door below room. Decor and fittings run down. Some staff unfriendly. Cooked breakfast not great.
