Great location.

Liked: The breakfast was lovely. The location is great. A lovely walk, although windy on the way back - to Amble.
Disliked: Room was ok - taps in the bathroom were a little slow for water to come through as was the shower - a soap dish would have been nice.

Great location, but points need...

Liked: Good location, great views, reasonable price, friendly staff.
Disliked: Upon checkout, my wife mentioned to the staff that she had found multiple items of clothing in the drawers in their room that had been left by (we assumed) the previous occupant. She also mentioned that in my room the hot tap was leaking and making all sorts of noises throughout the night.. she then informed the member of staff that they must surely be aware of this as it had been noted on several online reviews.. so I'd query why this hasn't been addressed!? My wife said at the time that she didn't want to make a fuss due to there being other people in the reception area but would very much appreciate it if someone could please get back to us in regards to these issues. The member of staff assured her that this would be passed on and that we would be contacted via email. This has not happened. I'd also mention that we ate in the bar area on the Saturday and the food was really nice.. however, the full English breakfast in the hotel the next day was one of the worst I've ever eaten. Didn't make a fuss at the time as we were hungry and needed to get back on the road, but I feel this needs to be mentioned so that improvements can be made. (Bacon was far too fatty/salty, black pudding tasted like bread, mushrooms/beans were cold, egg and sausage were overcooked, tomato was undercooked).

Would we stay here again...Damn...

Liked: What a great little gem, talk about value for money, great location with a cracking pub next door, although there are two just as good within a five minute walk..breakfast in a room that you would normally pay £500 a night for, fantastic staff...
Disliked: For the money we paid there was nothing we didn't like..

Liked: The room was beautiful, exactly as depicted, and with a view of the castle. The walks are mostly on the flat, so easy going on my ageing limbs, breathtaking scenery. Food was outstanding and the staff very friendly and welcoming. A faultless stay for a very reasonable price. Thoroughly enjoyed my break here and I highly recommend this place.
Disliked: After such a relaxing stay, I felt quite rushed to be checking out by 10am. Breakfast service could maybe start earlier to give guests a little time to enjoy the most important meal of the day, or checkout time could be extended by 30mins maybe. I personally felt exhausted all over again by the time I left, because of the morning rush. Not the way I wanted to start my Sunday. Overall though, still a lovely stay and I will be returning.

Good

Liked: breakfast was lovely Sunday lunch was amazing view of castle was lovely
Disliked: not as nice as it looks in that photo needs new bed mattress it's sunk in middle and give you a bad back the seat has stains on it, the fan extractor needs a good old clean never been done for some years looking at it if your stopping in the bridle suite it's very noisy from the banging of the pup door right underneath you same with all the guest rooms front doors its a hell of a shock if your asleep and they close them they could do with something to stop the them banging hard and I no its down to people them self's to quietly close them but most people forget needs a new KETTLE desperately, A cordless one the kettle has a 15 inch cord on it so if like me with arthritis in the back is a nightmare to neel on floor to unplug to pour a cuppa out, and for the price kettle's are, needs new lamp electrician tapes holding the bulb in needs a bit colour in the room it's very dull it's not gold lucking like in the photo or a silver, hotel pub drinks not so amazing £6.90 for a pint of cider, ok rant over in a second you could make the room outstanding with not a lot of money like it should be if your paying for a wedding there
