The Suites Hotel at Waterfront Plaza

Pretty outdated. Breakfast was average; elevator as we were going up decided to skip a beat and freak me out, thought I was going to crash.

Liked: Very spacious jacuzzi room.
Disliked: Outdated, and there was water dripping from the ceiling all night and all they did for us was give us $25 off. Wish we could have moved to another room as I didn't get any sleep with hearing that dripping all night.

We were in town to attend a concert at AMSOIL arena, so the hotel was very conveniently located. We knew when we booked that we would have an interior room with no windows but were still a bit surprised by how dark the room was. The lighting was poor and the walls were very thin. We heard our neighbor's alarm go off repeatedly and then his entire phone conversation. The room was fairly large but there was a very large pillar in the middle of it, near the corner of the bed. The room was clean but the decor was very dated. Breakfast was the standard pastries and DIY waffles - not very impressive considering the room cost and ratings. The happy hour at Timber Lodge was a nice touch, if you drink. Considering the number of hotels in Duluth, I'd recommend staying elsewhere.

Great place to stay for...

Liked: Great location and friendly staff, hope to stay here again next year!
Disliked: The staff member that checked me in told me that there wasn't going to be an early breakfast for the runners, so I had to scrounge around for something to eat. Then I discovered that there was the next morning - apparently, he was a new hire and had never been there for Grandma's before.

Disappointing

Disliked: Room was not clean. There was cobwebs. Bathroom mirror was like a child had cleaned it. The toilet had hair on it. There was a pile of hair on the bathroom floor and hair around the base of the toilet. The bathroom sink drained extremely slow. I went to front desk the next morning and told them they said they would have housekeeping clean it. We also asked for a bath mat and more towels. The only thing housekeeping did was make our beds and clean the mirror. They didn't even empty the trash. Never cleaned up the hair off the toilet or the floor. When we mentioned it to the front desk again upon checking out she said "well they only clean the room upon request "....uh....we asked you to have them clean it the morning after we checked in and we complained!

Disliked: I asked for a room near the elevator and with a window. I got neither . Was disappointed cause I’m disabled .

Liked: Location on Canal Park and proximity to the concert we attended. Very nice breakfast and dining area.
Disliked: Pool and hot tub were closed.

Disliked: First, we arrived 90 minutes early and was inquiring about an early check-in. The front desk person, simply said, your room will be ready at 4:00, which is the general check-in time. This is the first time in Myriad travel that someone did not say "Let me check if you room is ready, or it is not ready, but I can text you when it is ready. Just a joke. Then the key cards simply did not work...we went down to the lobby at least half a dozen times to get fresh keys. Then on our first morning, the breakfast bar was basically out of food at 9:00, and the second morning, it ran out of coffee. Then finally, the pool was unavailable until our second night there. We will be going to the other side of the canal going forward. Thank God that Duluth and the shore are so much fun regardless, it made our stay tolerable.

Disliked: Staff at front desk were excellent. Mai Lunn was the kindest and most helpful checking in and out. She was a great start to our stay at the Waterfront Plaza.
