The Suites Hotel at Waterfront Plaza

Pretty outdated. Breakfast was average; elevator as we were going up decided to skip a beat and freak me out, thought I was going to crash.

Liked: Very spacious jacuzzi room.
Disliked: Outdated, and there was water dripping from the ceiling all night and all they did for us was give us $25 off. Wish we could have moved to another room as I didn't get any sleep with hearing that dripping all night.

We were in town to attend a concert at AMSOIL arena, so the hotel was very conveniently located. We knew when we booked that we would have an interior room with no windows but were still a bit surprised by how dark the room was. The lighting was poor and the walls were very thin. We heard our neighbor's alarm go off repeatedly and then his entire phone conversation. The room was fairly large but there was a very large pillar in the middle of it, near the corner of the bed. The room was clean but the decor was very dated. Breakfast was the standard pastries and DIY waffles - not very impressive considering the room cost and ratings. The happy hour at Timber Lodge was a nice touch, if you drink. Considering the number of hotels in Duluth, I'd recommend staying elsewhere.

Disliked: Dark room; no windows; very dated; very thin walls.

Disliked: Staff at front desk were excellent. Mai Lunn was the kindest and most helpful checking in and out. She was a great start to our stay at the Waterfront Plaza.

Liked: We love the kitchenette and having a separate sleeping room from the kitchen and living room. Great location for tourists. Warm breakfast.
Disliked: The new mattresses are hard. Our hot water went out but they restored within the hour. Limited breakfast items.

Good location, cool hotel, understaffed...

Liked: The hotel is a cool former factory. The rooms are all suites so they are big.Close to the lift bridge. Lots of little stores and restaurants
Disliked: Staff and check in were horrible. generally. They seem understaffed. The clerk was mean, rude and would not even look me in the eye. I am a senior by the way. We were told the hotel was 'pet friendly' but they made NO EFFORT to show that. No place for the dog to walk other than go to the end of the parking lot. (They should take a clue from HILTON and even TRU hotels. They area excellent. ) We needed a luggage cart and the other clerk said "oh i can't leave the desk, you can take the elevator and go look for yourselves:. (Again, I am a senior)The key cards would not stick to working and would disengage and we had to go down to the same unpleasant clerk to redo.Lights in the room were not all working but we made do as they were so crabby and short staffed.When we were checking out, there was a ladder left in the elevator and when the door closed, it hit the luggage card. Very stupid. I went and told the new staff on that day, and the lady was more receptive.
