The Spotlight on The Study Hotel at University City

Stylish Comfort Steps from Campus and Philly’s Music Scene

Modern, refined, and tucked right in Philadelphia’s University City, The Study Hotel at University City blends an academic vibe with upscale comfort. With sleek, thoughtfully designed rooms and a serene atmosphere, this hotel is perfect for music lovers looking for a peaceful place to recharge after a big night out. Located near the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University, it also puts you within easy reach of major concert venues and cultural hotspots.

Why Concert-goers love it

The Study Hotel is a hit with concert-goers thanks to its central location—just a short rideshare or transit hop from many of Philadelphia’s best music venues. Late-night arrivals are no problem with a 24-hour front desk and 3 PM check-in. After the encore, retreat to a quiet, cozy room designed for real relaxation. With soundproofing and plush beds, it’s the perfect post-show wind-down zone.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a stylish base near the action
  • Solo travelers in town for a once-in-a-lifetime gig
  • Couples making a romantic concert weekend of it
  • Fans seeking calm after a high-energy night
  • Budget-conscious guests who still want upscale comfort

Food and Drink Options

The on-site restaurant offers a convenient spot to grab a bite before or after a show. While there's no mention of 24/7 room service, the University City location puts you within walking distance of a variety of late-night eateries. Whether you're craving comfort food or a quick slice, you'll find something tasty nearby. Breakfast is available for those who need a slow start after a late night.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself keeps things quiet and classy, you’re close to the city’s nightlife. Bars, lounges, and live music spots dot the neighborhood, and downtown Philly is just a quick ride away. It’s a great balance for those who want access to the scene without having to sleep in the middle of it.

What People Say

Guests love the hotel’s clean, modern rooms, comfortable beds, and friendly, attentive staff. Many mention the hotel’s peaceful ambiance as a welcome change from the hustle of the city. It’s frequently praised for being immaculately clean and in a great location for exploring Philly.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests note the lack of on-site parking, so plan ahead if you’re driving. Others mention that while the hotel is elegant, it doesn’t offer some standard extras like a fitness center or pool. Also, take note that there’s a $500 smoking fee—definitely not the place to light up post-show.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers wanting a stylish, quiet stay near Philly’s top venues, The Study Hotel at University City hits all the right notes.

Pamela, Harrisburg, visiting World Cafe Live Philadelphia Thu, 16 November 2023

We stayed at The Study following a show at the World Cafe. We especially appreciated it's proximity to the venue. We parked our car at the hotel, for a reasonable fee, and walked to everything from there. Our room was well appointed without being excessive for an overnight stay. It was quiet. We were checked in and out by cheerful staff. Breakfast the next morning was delightful at the restaurant and we appreciated the access to coffee and tea at other times of the day. We would stay again, especially if visiting the World Cafe or another event in University City.

Liked: Clean; well-maintained; helpful staff; reasonable parking.
Disliked: My husband thought the pillows were too soft.

Quaint stay

Liked: The location was very convenient. It also was really clean and cozy. I also enjoyed the gym. It had everything for a solid workout. They also provide waters and towels. They do not provide a fridge or microwave which was good for me.
Disliked: I couldn’t figure out the AC in my room. Some times I’d wake up hot and I couldn’t understand why if I had the AC set to the temp of my home one.

Great hotel for working in...

Liked: The staff was great. The manager downstairs helped us get coffee when we missed it at the reception area. The people at the reception helped my daughter when she needed water. The room was quiet, much more so than most hotels, and the beds comfortable. The work area in the room is spacious. The reception area downstairs was great for working, as well.
Disliked: No mini-fridge in the room. We only needed an empty one to keep some fruits and water cold. They said we could have asked for one, but we did not know. The coffee downstairs was good, coffee at each floor by the elevators would be better, and coffee in each room would have been best. But we understand the cost implications.

I thought it was excellent...

Liked: I liked the location. The bartender at the restaurant on site was great. My daughter had a procedure at the local hospital and he asked how she was doing and later when she was feeling up to going down he gave her ice cream with a candle in it. He made her day. Was very sweet of him.
Disliked: I wished we had a little fridge in our room.
