Good
Liked: Lovely old building. Staff were very friendly.
Disliked: Lots of stairs. No lift available. Not suitable for those with mobility issues. Very limited parking.

It was below our expectations.
Liked: The room was fine. It was clean. The en-suite was a bit dated. The young staff were generally helpful but there seemed to be a lack of management.
Disliked: The catering was poor. Breakfast was especially so. There was a limited selection of items for a continental breakfast. The cooked items were mainly overcooked and scant. Eggs were limited to scrambled and not replaced promptly. They had no orange juice by 0800 this morning.Dinner was not available in the hotel on our second night. The hotel is over 4 levels but the lift has been broken since last year. The smart TV was difficult to operate as well!It was not good value for money at £220 per night.

Good
Liked: Car park with direct access to bedroom level.
Disliked: Overall the hotel was quite tired looking in decor, carpets, bathroom fittings.

Great staff, no alcohol licence,...
Liked: Great location. Right opposite the harbour and on the front line with the port. Staff were all very nice, professional and friendly. Truely great staff. Cullen skink soup was good. Fish and chips good.
Disliked: It’s not licenced to sell alcohol. So no wine with dinner or beer or scotch. The bar only sold non alcoholic drinks. The standard rooms are small and tight with quite small bathrooms. Does need a renovation. No lift/elevator. We were on the 3rd floor and it was quite a walk up particularly with bags.

Pleasant
Liked: Old building full of character- great location.
Disliked: As they don’t serve any alcohol and have closed the bars, the hotel is somewhat removed from the life of the town..

Horrible. I certainly would Not...
Liked: Nothing at the Hotel
Disliked: The evening dinner was poor and we were unable to have wine with the meals as the present owner, who are muslin, have removed that possibility. There was no possibility of an evening drink (wine, scotch etc) as that possibility has also been removed. This should advertised on the website for anyone thinking of staying here. This is Scotland for goodness sake. The Breakfast was very poor quality and very limited selection, for example we had to ask for butter (which the staff couldn't find) and bread to make toast. My granddaughter's breakfast was burnt and had to be returned. We stayed for three days and there was no housekeeping, our towels were never changed at all whilst we were there, we had to make our bed and the room was never cleaned for the duration of our stay.We were advised to go to the local Ferry Inn for evening dinner, where we meet other people staying at the hotel, all expressing the same concerns and all vowing to never return. For breakfast we went across the street for a very good breakfast reasonable priced.

Passable
Liked: View of the harbour, big room, hotel history was interesting.
Disliked: Miserable dinning room, pervading fusty smell, uninviting lounge, very poor breakfast (no fruit, pasties in plastic wrappers, self service tea and coffee making was really bad) and appalling dining experience in general ( no option to buy wine with meals), car park was like a building site, look a while to find our booking even though we had paid up front. General feeling of disinterest and poor service yet not cheap.
