Comfortable opera visit
Liked: Comfortable bed in large room with good facilities and free wifi. Delicious breakfast worth the extra outlay.
Disliked: The bath incorporating a shower was a bit unsafe for someone of my age. I would have preferred a shower cubicle. My room was at the front of the hotel and there was a lot of noise from the street between about 11pm and 2am.

A charming and convenient stay...
Liked: The hotel is ideally situated right in the heart of Southampton’s high street, making it a perfect base for shopping, dining out, and exploring the city on foot. Its central location means that a wide variety of restaurants, cafes, and shops are just a short stroll away, offering convenience and vibrancy to your stay. While the hotel is a bit dated in terms of décor and facilities, it still retains a certain charm and old-world glamour that gives it character and makes you feel as though you’ve stepped into another era. This nostalgic atmosphere may particularly appeal to those who appreciate classic design and a sense of history. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly throughout the stay, always ready to assist with a smile and provide recommendations when asked. Their warm hospitality added to the overall positive experience. One of the standout practical features is the parking availability, which is a real asset in such a central location where parking can often be a challenge. The convenience of having on-site parking took away the stress of finding a space and made coming and going much easier. Finally, the hotel is well-maintained and clean, which is always reassuring and important for a comfortable stay. Although it may benefit from some modern updates, it delivers a pleasant, nostalgic experience with solid service and a fantastic location.
Disliked: While the hotel has a nostalgic charm, some of the furniture, carpets, and fixtures feel quite dated and could benefit from refurbishment to enhance comfort and appeal without losing its classic character. The Wi-Fi connection could be slow or intermittent, which might be frustrating

Decent
Disliked: I didn't like that the deposit payment was so high and that I was told that it would be returned to my bank account by the following day, when another staff member told me it would be 7 days.

DO NOT RECOMMEND!
Liked: Staff at the hotel are helpful and do their best with what they have. The receptionists were helpful and the breakfast staff couldn’t do enough to make it a pleasant experience.
Disliked: I travel with my 13yo who was mortified about the run down aspect of the hotel. We then had to change rooms 3 times as the rooms were below par (stunk of cigarettes, mouldy windows, disgusting shower and bathroom with poor cleanliness). The last room we settled in was newer but there was still mould on the sash windows which were broken and would not stay closed. This was particularly bad given that the room faced the busy high street, which on a Saturday was extremely noisy. The hotel does not feel safe specially concerning as the area is surrounded by homeless and vacant and run-down commercial properties. This hotel needs significant investment and TLC to make it a nice and comfortable stay. DO NOT RECOMMEND IT.
