The 2 hotels are interchangeable...

Disliked: A standard room is unbelievably small - upgrade to a larger room .

We will not return

Liked: The staff were friendly
Disliked: Rooms could have been cleaner we stayed in room 5 we kept awake most of the night by an air con unit which was outside the window. Then at 6.45 am we woke the bins being empty and tv on loud below us .We also got the smell off people smoking outside to I would not recommend this hotel and at breakfast number of items were missing every day like no beans no marmalade etc

Avoidable issues which meant the...

Liked: Lovely property, very clean and great location.
Disliked: Unfortunately the property did not have our booking. We were able to stay in a small double at the pub next door, sadly we had booked a King room at The Stag. We were offered a reduced rate which was acceptable, but still disappointing. Sadly no gluten free bread for toast in the morning despite it being on the menu. An item forgotten during dinner and breakfast. Not massive issues but all amounted to a bit of a shame on what could’ve been a fabulous stay.

Superb

Liked: Exceptionally comfortable bed - we loved the style of the Stag and the room. The food is excellent - highly recommend the venison pie. Check in was very professional. Breakfast is very nice but perhaps a couple more options like eggs Benedict and croissants would be nice.
Disliked: Very poor coffee at breakfast but we appreciated the cappuccino/late on day 2. Breakfast. Unfortunately our shower (room 2) was poor. Water flow was not great (understandable in an old listed building) but it was either far too cold or far too hot.
