I was amazed how much...
Liked: Awesome building and amenities for the price. My expectations were definitely surpassed. They had a cafe in the lobby with great coffee, a scenic rooftop terrace, and the cleanliness was mind blowing. Very thoughtful design and ambience. Loved it.
Disliked: The only downfall is the location. A few blocks in any direction and it gets better, but it is primarily located in the middle of Portland's skid row. Not exactly a deal breaker if checking in with daylight left but after 12am you start thinking about how to use your suitcase as a defense mechanism. Especially after that metro ride from the airport. Woah.

Lovely, great value hotel in...
Liked: Beautiful space with a really welcoming lobby and a yummy cafe. Sitting by the fire on a rainy day was so cozy! Some of the staff were exceptionally friendly, especially at the cafe. The room was nice, the bathroom was very clean, and the rooftop was absolutely beautiful and relatively private.
Disliked: Some of the front desk staff could have been friendlier. Also, the location is in a surprisingly quiet part of the city, even though it's walking distance to downtown. I know Portland has a serious homelessness problem, and I don't begrudge people finding safe places to sleep outside, but it was unnerving to have such an enormous unhoused population right there, and the security on the hotel (while helping us feel secure) sort of proved that.

Nicest cheap hotel I've stayed...
Liked: I enjoyed the amenities, the really affordable price, and how nice the staff were
Disliked: It's in a funky area of town where's there's not much in walking distance. It's also a slightly long walk from the train station
