Decent value for money

Liked: The staff at the reception desk were very welcoming and helpful. The staff at the restaurant were very friendly and efficient, top marks! I really liked the restaurant for dinners and didn't wan't to go anywhere else. While the menu options are not that wide, I tried each of the mains and they were delicious. I also liked the general atmosphere - the coziness and unobtrusive music. The location is superb - a short walking distance from major museums and landmarks, as well as Lime Street Station. The room was more spacious than I expected!
Disliked: Being a historical building, the hotel feels a little bit dated and would benefit from some sprucing up. While I understand the need for emergency pullstrings in the bathroom, two of those in the bedroom came as a surprise, especially that I was constantly stepping on one of them as it was impossible to get across the room otherwise. As there was no AC and the air was stale, I opened the window, and it looked like it had not been washed or at least dusted for a very long time. The "continental" breakfast was definitely not worth the money I paid for it - the options were very limited, basically just cheese and jam, so I had to order a cooked breakfast on top of that (for additional cost).

Great staff and a perfect...

Liked: The location of the hotel is it's biggest selling point. Just of the main shopping area with many pubs and restaurants nearby. It is a handy walk to the Cavern Quarter where we spent plenty of time. Staff were really friendly and also added to the charm. The rooms were spotlessly clean although quite dated.
Disliked: I booked an option with breakfast. I was informed when we got there that this was a genius upgrade via booking website and was continental. I really was disappointed by that. The breakfast was also delivered to your room by the friendly, helpful staff. Being the prime location it is I will book room only if I stay again as many cafes etc are within easy walking distance. Beds were ok comfortwise but at the price point it was as expected.
