Great stay

Liked: Excellent position and room. Very big room, comfortable, with all the facilities for every need. Very good breakfast: tasty, high quality food, all the options for all the tastes. Staff available and willing to support.
Disliked: The heating system in our room was not working. The staff was available to support us as soon as we called for assistance, however the support was a bit clumsy and as if the staff didn't communicate well among them. In fact, the staff representative that intervened initially, told us that the entire wing of the hotel was without heating, then he promised to bring in the room 2 Dyson electric heaters, but then he gave us one only. Although it was enough to warm the room up, it is as if he changed his mind at the last moment. Finally, when we reported this to the reception the day after, it seemed like they didn't know at all that an entire area of the hotel was without heating as we were told the day before.In fairness to the hotel staff they were understanding of the miscommunication issue and offered to write off the breakfast charge from the bill.

Very dark dingy room

Disliked: Room very dark. Scaffolding up directly outside window which made what would already have been a dark room quite cave like. Needed lights on even in daytime. Not an inviting space. Did mention on check out and was promised contact which never came. Usually stay at the George and will go back there next visit. It’s a shame. Lovely old building with beautiful features but room dinginess made it no more inviting than the premier inn. No doubt other rooms may be better. Perhaps we were just unlucky
