The Spotlight on The Salisbury Hotel

Chic Georgian Charm Just Minutes from the Music

Modern comfort meets historic charm at The Salisbury Hotel, a stylish 4-star townhouse tucked into the quiet Newington neighborhood of Edinburgh. Just a mile from the city’s buzzing Royal Mile and vibrant music scene, this boutique hotel blends Georgian elegance with contemporary touches. With individually styled rooms, complimentary Wi-Fi, and a peaceful vibe, it’s a perfect base for concert-goers looking to balance fun and relaxation.

Why Concert-goers love it

Location is key here — while nestled in a calm residential area, The Salisbury Hotel is just a quick bus ride (or a 5-minute drive) to central Edinburgh’s top music venues. Late-night transport is easy with bus stops only 131 feet away, offering regular links to the city center. The quiet setting is ideal for winding down after a loud show, and the cozy, comfortable rooms (some even with four-poster beds) make for a great late-night crash pad. Check-in from 14:00 gives you time to settle in before the gig, and with check-out at 10:30, there’s still time for a lie-in.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a stylish but relaxed place to stay
  • Solo travelers catching a must-see artist
  • Couples planning a memorable music-filled weekend
  • Fans wanting a quieter post-concert recovery space
  • Budget-conscious music fans who still want boutique charm

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no full restaurant, the on-site Sofia’s Lounge is independently run and offers a cozy spot for light bites or a pre-show drink. Room service is available, and the surrounding area has plenty of walkable cafés and eateries. Breakfast is available — perfect when you’ve been out into the early hours.

Nightlife Options

Though the hotel itself leans toward the quieter side, you're just a short ride away from Edinburgh's lively pubs, bars, and live music venues. Whether you're hunting for a dancefloor or a laid-back whisky bar, the city’s nightlife is easily accessible — and far enough away that your room stays peaceful.

What People Say

Guests consistently praise the friendly staff, spotlessly clean rooms, and the hotel’s relaxing atmosphere. Many love the blend of historic detail (like original Georgian windows) with modern amenities. The location wins points for being close to the action without the noise.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests note that the limited free parking can fill up fast — so it's best to plan ahead if you're driving. A few reviews mention the early check-out time (10:30), though it’s manageable with a bit of planning after a late night.

The Bottom Line

If you're heading to a concert in Edinburgh and want a boutique hotel that’s stylish, quiet, and well-connected, The Salisbury Hotel hits all the right notes.

Liked: Beautifully presented. Incredibly comfortable bed. Lovely breakfast and such incredibly friendly staff who could not do enough to help. We have felt so lucky to have found this gem. Quiet location - even with windows open a peaceful night’s sleep. The lovely Italian receptionist was a delight - so sweet and helpful. Easy to get to, one mins walk from bus stop.
Disliked: There was nothing we did not like. It was lovely. Although be aware there are no lifts.

Exceeded my expectations, comfy and...

Liked: Nice modern room in a classic historic building. The property was well-kept, very clean, and my room was very pretty and comfy! Reception staff were welcoming. Right near a major bus stop and decently walkable into heart of Edinburgh. Quiet area. Would stay again!
Disliked: It’s not difficult to get into the center of the city, but you are a 25-30 min walk or a bus ride from it. Also, the breakfast was nice but I think overpriced. If I were to stay again then I would probably opt out of breakfast.
