The Rutland Hotel

Liked: Staff very friendly.
Disliked: Room was dated; very hot and air conditioning did not work.

Parking signage going down Glossop Road after passing the hotel could be improved. Driving up the road was better as the car park could be seen.

Liked: Reception first class, breakfast excellent. Appropriate bedding without a large heavy duvet.
Disliked: Decor generally shabby and old fashioned.

Disliked: Needs a bit of decorating some areas looking tired

Suite was excellent, staff were...

Liked: We stayed in the suite and it was very spacious and clean. The shower was great and the bath was huge and very comfortable! The hotel itself was in a great location, the staff were lovely and the freshly cooked and made to order breakfast was exceptional. Decor wise it could do with a bit of modernisation; although it did have an overall rustic feel to the place so I can understand why they wouldn’t want to reduce that.
Disliked: The only reason I’m not giving it a 10 out 10 is because of the two reasons that I feel could be easily rectified. First off, the tv wasn’t a smart tv. I think a suite of that size and in this day and age a smart tv should be a given. The second reason is that pillows on the bed were very flimsy and again, when staying in a suite I would expect a bit more luxury.

Outdated but good breakfast

Liked: Staff were pleasant. Breakfast was nice.
Disliked: Needs updating. Creeping floor, old carpets and old sash windows

Liked: Lovely big room, nice selection of tea and coffee. Comfortable bed and clean bedding. Great sofa to chill out on.
Disliked: Very hard pillows. Old ancient window that we struggled to open when it got very hot. Very dirty vent in the bathroom covered in dust. Long dark hair in the bath.

Excellent location but needs some...

Liked: Great location, clean, bed was comfortable, and staff were friendly and helpful. Very good breakfast. Lounge we were able to wait in while waiting for our room to be ready.
Disliked: Bathroom was dated with nowhere to put toiletries, 2 of light switches weren't working and the 3rd turned on lights for bathroom and bedroom, so if you needed bathroom in night you couldn't use light without waking everyone up! Very few plug points and none by the beds. No air con/ thermostat which was uncomfortable on a very hot night. No fridge / mini bar. No helpful extras like shower caps. You couldn't fill up kettle from the tap because of the size / shape of sink and tap, so not sure how you were meant to make yourself coffee.
