Brief but pleasant. I’d say...
Liked: We received a very nice reception when we arrived and the staff were all very professional and helpful.
Disliked: The bed was too firm and the pillows uncomfortable. I had expected to have the option of a feather pillow.

Very pleasant but too expensive...
Liked: The location is superb - right in the middle of Bakewell. The hotel itself has a very luxurious feel to it with a beautiful dining room and reception area. Breakfast was great. We also had our evening meal there which was good although not huge portion sizes. We found the staff a bit mixed - some were really welcoming and smiley, others appeared to be having a bit of a 'bad day' and, although not rude, were not overly happy if you asked for something (dining room) eg sugar for cereal (only lumped sugar on the table), extra water etc.
Disliked: We did book a small double room and it was small (which was okay) but it was very cluttered with 'hotel stuff'and the room was hot. There was a fan in the room but the window would only open a short way. The bathroom was very spacious but the window didn't open. Quite noisy from traffic at night but this is to be expected with a central location. It was very expensive compared to our previous night in Ashbourne which was half the price, twice the space and included breakfast!

Practical but not comfortable- but...
Liked: Authentic small town hotel, central. Nice bar area and hotel lobby. Excellent coffee.
Disliked: Lots of motorbikes driving past. The bed was very uncomfortable.
