The Spotlight on The Rubens At The Palace

Classic Luxury Steps from the Stage

Modern elegance meets royal charm at The Rubens At The Palace, a boutique-style hotel overlooking Buckingham Palace. Located just a short walk from Victoria Station, it places you near London's iconic concert halls and theaters while offering refined, personalized service. With individually designed rooms and top-tier dining, it’s a stylish base for concert-goers wanting both comfort and class.

Why Concert-goers love it

Just minutes from the Victoria Apollo and Victoria Palace Theatres, this hotel is perfect for catching a show without worrying about transport. You’re also well connected to other music venues via Victoria Station, just a few minutes away on foot. Despite its central location, guests report peaceful, well-soundproofed rooms — ideal for winding down after a high-energy night. With check-in from 14:00 and check-out at 12:00, you’ll have time to relax post-show.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends heading to a gig together will love the nearby bars and lounges.
Solo travelers can enjoy a secure, welcoming environment with a touch of luxury.
Couples can turn a concert night into a romantic weekend with royal views and fine dining.
Fans seeking quiet after a loud show will appreciate the tranquil rooms and refined atmosphere.
Budget-conscious fans should note this is a splurge-worthy stay, not a budget option — but worth it for a special night.

Food and Drink Options

You’re spoiled for choice here. The English Grill serves up steaks and seasonal dishes with table-side flair, and The Curry Room offers an Indian-African fine dining twist. The Palace Lounge is perfect for a relaxed breakfast after a late night, and 24/7 room service means you’ll never go hungry. While there’s no late-night diner per se, the on-site New York Bar stays open late with light bites and cocktails.

Nightlife Options

Start or end your evening at the New York Bar, known for its red decor, curated cocktails, and intimate vibe. While there’s no live music here, you’re steps from the West End’s buzzing nightlife and bars. Whether you're into a quiet post-show drink or ready to keep the night going, you’ll find options nearby.

What People Say

Guests rave about the exceptional service, with staff going above and beyond to make stays memorable. The location is a huge plus — close to everything but with a calm, regal ambiance. Many mention the delicious breakfast and the attention to detail in the room design. It's often described as a “hidden gem in central London.”

Areas for Improvement

Some guests note that the rooms run a bit smaller, especially compared to modern chain hotels. Prices can be on the higher side — but you're paying for location, luxury, and service. If you're after minimalist or ultra-modern decor, this more traditional style may not be your vibe.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers looking to pair a great show with a luxurious stay in central London, The Rubens At The Palace delivers timeless style and unbeatable location.

The room was terrible—noisy, outdated,...

Liked: Location was good
Disliked: The hotel room was located next to some noisy AC units for the building. I'm sorry to say that for £350 per night, the room was very small, smelled unpleasant, and looked like it was from the 1950s. This experience doesn't sit right with me. I visit London at least twice a month for work, and for up to £250, you can find really good hotels like the Hilton. In fact, on the other side of Victoria Station, the Premier Inn offers a better experience for only £150. Additionally, charging £70 to park my car just down the street feels like a rip-off! This was supposed to be a special occasion for my 20th wedding anniversary, but unfortunately, the Rubens Hotel was a letdown.

Stay there, you won't regret...

Liked: Location is, well, about as nice as King Charles's! Seriously, what makes the Reubens great is the staff. Your every need, care, or concern is taken care of immediately, efficiently, cheerfully.
Disliked: There's nothing not to like about the Reubens.

Lovely tea; great location; road...

Liked: Staff very friendly as they were “students” Nice decor. Tea is exceptional
Disliked: I requested a quiet room and was given a first floor room next to traffic- I had travelled over 24 hrs from Alaska n needed sleep- the windows were not sound proofed; staff politely ignored my questions of quietness. I lost 25% of my vacation by a sleepless night listening to trucks n traffic. I was moved to a quieter room the next day- but as a cancer survivor needing sleep I do not appreciate my repeated requests for quiet being ignored.
