The Royal Sonesta Washington DC Dupont Circle

Not the best choice in...

Liked: Good location very close to Dupont Circle with good overnight parking nearby
Disliked: First bad experience in a months stay in US. There was no hot water in the bath the night we arrived after a 10 hr drive and when no one came for 20 minutes after we informed the front desk, the night manager named Bruce rudely informs us that the lead time is 30 mins. Subsequently when i tell him as no one came we took bath in cold water so no need to send anyone, he still sends a person at 11:15pm after we had gone off to sleep. We had to still call the mechanic next morning who informs us that for hot water to flow in bath we have to let hot water continue to flow in washbasin!!! What kind of a system is that, especially in an expensive Executive King Room!Although the morning manager tried to make up for it in the morning by giving a rebate of $35 (☹️), some soured experiences (after paying $215 a night) cant be rectified with a small token of $35!!! + we could not avail the $15 food credit as we were informed by the lady at checkin that it needs to be availed only by night (before 9:30pm when the restuarant closes) and cant be availed next day for breakfast!!! Some damn rules not mentioned while booking!

Disliked: I was really disappointed with my stay. Charging $72 per night for parking is unreasonable. The outlets near the bed didn’t work, there was a strange stain on the ceiling, and the shower couldn’t hold a consistent temperature—it was either scalding hot or freezing. There was also an exposed power box hanging from under the desk, which felt unsafe. On top of that, the hotel restaurant was only open for breakfast and dinner, with no lunch options available, which was inconvenient. Definitely not the quality I expected.
