Liz, Durham, visiting Playhouse Whitley Bay Sun, 7 April 2024

We were a bit dubious when we arrived as there was scaffolding up which we weren’t informed about; however, the hotel was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was lovely and the staff were very attentive and friendly.

Liked: Friendly service; comfortable bed and room was very clean.
Disliked: A lot of stairs.

Superb

Liked: The receptionist was lovely & very helpful.Breakfast was great. It's a fantastic selection.Breakfast/ morning/house domestics staff, can't fault them. Nothing was too much trouble.Hotel being situated right on the seafront, not far to walk to local amenities.
Disliked: As the hotel is in the process of refurbishment.I would say the rooms could do with a freshen up, but all in due course.

It was a handy location.

Liked: Really handy and central. Room was clean and everything was in working order. Breakfast was good.
Disliked: The bed looked like it needed a new mattress as the springs on the right side of the bed were gone. The side closest to the window was ok. But this would be a problem for a couple.

Disappointing stay.

Liked: Location
Disliked: -Well worn beds.-Noisy construction.-Tatty interiors (during renovation).-Scaffolding had worn and weathered plastic sheeting tied to it blocking any sea view and also flapped around noisily all night.
