Very Good - 4.0 out of 5

Liz, Durham, visiting Playhouse Whitley Bay Sun, 7 April 2024

We were a bit dubious when we arrived as there was scaffolding up which we weren’t informed about; however, the hotel was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was lovely and the staff were very attentive and friendly.

Liked: Friendly service; comfortable bed and room was very clean.
Disliked: A lot of stairs.

Avoid this expensive hotel until...

Liked: Opposite the sea!
Disliked: I expected scaffolding- no problem, it has to happen sometimes- but not such an awful room: curtain handing off, blind a skew, toilet seat lid broken, no toilet roll, shower cubicle mouldy in places, radiator woke me at 4 am with a high beep and a blue flashing light. When I complained after a poor nights sleep the manager managed a “sorry” after many defensive responses. It has been booked via Booking. Com; the receptionist told us on arrival she didn’t have to do anything as B. C did her job for her!!

Superb

Liked: Location is brilliant and staff are always pleasant
Disliked: Bed was sideways against the wall meaning access was from one side only and I don't like being hemmed in. However once all the renovations are finished I'm sure it will be lovely
