Excellent hotel. Clean and comfortable....

Liked: Beautiful historic building. The restaurant - the Captain Scott Room - was especially impressive. Although a listed building which means limited adjustments can be made to accommodate accessibility for disabled guests, I had no problems getting around in my wheelchair and having let the hotel know about my needs, they had carefully selected a room that was easy to access. Breakfast was fresh, plentiful and there was a huge choice, full English, fresh fruit, cereals, pastries, continental, toast with jams, spreads, marmalade and honey, tea, coffee and juices. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful and the hotel itself is close to the train and bus stations and is right in the heart of Cardiff meaning easy access to shopping, bars and restaurants and entertainment venues.
Disliked: There are two entrances. Wheelchair users need to use the rear door and this entrance is not particularly welcoming. Indeed, it is quite off-putting and we were a little concerned as to what we would find in the hotel. Simple things such as renewing the somewhat tattered flag and cleaning/painting the pillars by the door would give a better impression of the excellent standard once inside the building
