Great Location

Liked: The location for us was perfect. We walked all over London. The hotel was clean and friendly, food was good for dinner, breakfast very expensive. Best to book the night before for a discount price. The doormen were great, helped with luggage and taxis when needed. Old world decor. Friendly staff.
Disliked: Our main complaint was the bed and pillows. Our Deluxe room had only a double bed and very firm full pillows which gave us neck aches the first night. The next morning we asked if any rooms had king size beds...at £90 extra a night, and all were booked. We asked for softer pillows to help out. After a full day out we came back to 4 of the flattest feather pillows, looked years old. We slept on them for 2 nights then couldn?t take any more. We left a note for the room cleaner to please try to find better pillows, which she did for our last night, finally. Also the double bed was an old style, very firm but with a softer pad on top. But we kept sliding off the bed, you couldn?t sit on the edge at all without falling off. And we had to sleep in the middle cuddled close together or we?d slide off the edges! This is the main reason we wouldn?t stay here again. The bathroom was very small too and the lights in the room extremely complicated to use. They were ALL either on full or dimmed, but no matter how much we fiddled with the controls we couldn?t get just the bedside lights on alone. The room was clean, service was good, housekeeping was excellent. Waiters very friendly. But we wouldn?t stay again because of the uncomfortable bed. We travel all over the world, and haven?t had such an uncomfortable bed and pillows anywhere. 5* it wasn?t.
