The Spotlight on The Royal Foundation Of St Katharine Hotel

Peaceful Stay Steps from London's Music Scene

Modern comfort meets historic charm at The Royal Foundation of St Katharine. Nestled in the tranquil Limehouse area, this hotel offers a serene escape just a 2-minute walk from Limehouse DLR Station. Surrounded by peaceful gardens and steeped in history dating back to 1147, it’s a refreshing contrast to the city's buzz — yet close enough to easily catch your favorite shows.
Rooms are bright, airy, and equipped with private bathrooms, tea and coffee facilities, and work desks. Some even offer calming garden views, and free WiFi keeps you connected. Please note: in keeping with its restful atmosphere, rooms do not have TVs.
Check-in is from 16:00, and check-out is at 11:00.

Why Concert-goers love it

Being just steps from Limehouse DLR Station means quick trips to major venues around Canary Wharf and Tower Hill. The peaceful environment is perfect for winding down after a high-energy show. Plus, the hotel's flexible vibe and reliable transport links make getting in late a breeze.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for an affordable, peaceful base
  • Solo travelers ticking off a bucket-list concert
  • Couples making a romantic weekend of it
  • Fans who want a quiet space to recharge post-show
  • Budget-conscious music lovers seeking value and charm

Food and Drink Options

Start your day right with a hearty continental breakfast featuring fresh fruit, croissants, meats, and cheeses. There's also a cozy daytime café on-site — perfect for a pre-show coffee or a light bite. While there’s no late-night dining, Limehouse has several eateries within a short walk.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself maintains a tranquil atmosphere (no on-site bar or live music), its location means you’re just a quick ride or Uber away from vibrant bars, clubs, and lounges across Canary Wharf and Shoreditch.

What People Say

Guests rave about the calm atmosphere, beautiful gardens, and superb transport connections. Many highlight the friendly staff and the hotel's historic charm, making it a memorable and relaxing stay.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention missing having a TV in the room, and others note that the peaceful, retreat-like vibe might feel a bit too quiet for those seeking a lively, social hotel experience. Also, parking is available but managed externally, so it’s best to plan ahead.

The Bottom Line

If you're looking for a peaceful, well-connected stay after a night of music and excitement in London, The Royal Foundation of St Katharine is a charming and convenient choice.

Liked: I chose TFSK as we were travelling to Euston and were attending Iron Maiden at The London Stadium. The location was absolutely perfect with roughly similar travelling times both ways. Staff were lovely and helpful.Limehouse DLR station was a two minute walk to/from accommodation. We stayed in an apartment (flat 2) and it was fabulous. Everything we needed for our short stay.Breakfast was included and this was continental style. Great coffee!Loved our stay and would definitely stay again.

Liked: Check in time till late, right next to train station, they have a Yurt cafe that is a lovely space & great food, room & facilities were really clean, great garden to sit in & really peaceful. Breakfast was well organised and had a good selection of tea coffee & juices although there was no cooked breakfast just a cold selection & plenty of it. For London it's a great place & could have stayed longer.
Disliked: There was no cooked breakfast but if you wanted you could buy yourself a cooked breakfast at the Yurt. All food & drink at the Yurt is separate from the price of your stay.

Good location, basic but clean

Liked: Great location for access to transport. Gardens were nice. Friendly staff. Fine for 1 night & the money for fairly central London.
Disliked: Paid £40 to check in at 1pm as we needed to get ready & be on the 14:20 train. Arrived at 13:15, checked in but the cleaner was still in the apartment and asked us to come back in 20-25 minutes. Disappointing that the communication on priority of cleaning rooms wasn’t done when we’d paid extra. Also wasn’t clear that the onsite parking needed to be paid for, thought it was included. Not a big issue as still preferable to have parking right outside but should be more obvious on the booking site.

Tranquil and good value

Liked: I’m enormously fond of this place. Even amidst the hubbub surrounding it, it’s tranquil. I always sleep well here.
Disliked: Most of the team are lovely but one of them is a little grumpy.
