The Rodney Hotel Clifton Village

Good value, nice location, and...

Liked: Great for single traveler. Everything you need
Disliked: The mattress was a bit springy and sunken in the middle

Disappointing

Liked: Carpets not clean. Facilities in the bedroom shabby and poor.

Noise problems

Liked: Location was central to our trip. Staff were friendly
Disliked: Very noisy, we were on the bottom floor and could hear a constant droning noise. There was also a toilet and staff room next door that we could hear very loudly. We could also hear chairs scraping upstairs when the staff were setting up the restaurant. Very little soundproofing. Minor problems with interior. Big scuff marks on walls and the toilet seat was a flimsy plastic. Bathroom floor was also unclean.

Pleasant stay in small, good...

Liked: Hotel very conveniently situated for Clifton Village cafes and shops, train station bus stop and walks to Clifton Downs, pleasant outlook with trees and garden space outside. Welcoming reception with interesting bookshelf and original artwork for sale (and bedroom names linked to the naval career of previous owner of the building). Restaurant for breakfast/dinner and ground coffee/tea, biscuits and fruit provided in room. Small wardrobes and hair drier in room.
Disliked: Small room, bed was not very comfortable (and had a stained throw), bathroom and shower rather outdated (low shower head), no soap (but hair/body shampoo) and no iron provided. Restaurant not open for dinner every day (e.g. closed on Sunday).

Ideal location for Clifton village.

Liked: Ideal location with its own parking, although they did charge extra for this. Excellent breakfast.
Disliked: Small room. No heating. Restaurant not open in the evening.

Liked: Breakfast "buffet" was a bit of a joke though food cooked to order was excellent. Front desk staff friendly and compétent.
Disliked: Thestairs. The tiny rooms. The ill fitting windows letting draughts in.

A relaxed home from home...

Liked: Good breakfast, lovely staff. Excellent location. Nice relaxed atmosphere and a little eccentric.
Disliked: Parking a bit of a juggling act but not the hotel's fault. Cleanliness not always tip top... The dining room windows are in need of a clean every time I stay.!
