Darlene, To, visiting Chop Shop Chicago Tue, 12 September 2023
Beds were super comfy. If you just use room to sleep it's ideal, but if you want to spend time making a few meals and relaxing in room there is a tiny cooler refrigerator, no microwave, one chair and no table. I think many people in Chicago never relax! We had a great time, room was expensive probably for location and status. Valet parking was available. Rooftop views at night ansolutely beautiful.
Liked: Location was great, right across from concert venue Chop Shop, right next to Wicker Park for tons of shopping opportunities and good food. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Disliked: No microwave in room. Keurig failed the last morning and leaked. Only 1 chair in room for 3 people. A few folding chairs and folding table would be perfect as we sat on the floor and sat my 90 year old mom in the 1 chair with a wastebasket upside down for table to eat at. Pool was closed for a wedding that took over the whole 6th floor.

It was a great hotel...
Liked: The rooftop bar
Verified Hotel Guest Mon, 1 April 2024
Liked: The staff were exceptionally helpful and the room was beautiful with many thoughtful touches, including a white noise machine, slippers, etc.
Disliked: Other guests were very loud and the train went right past our window so it was very loud and hard to sleep. It was also a huge challenge to pull my car up to the valet parking because its in a tricky spot.

Clean, comfortable, and enjoyable
Liked: Location, meal, bar all great. Staff great as well
Disliked: Finding the valet was a little difficult since we approached from a direction that we could not see the Balet sign

Liked: Loved the room design! The bed was very comfortable. The view was stunning. We lived in Chicago for 17 years and have never seen the city from that vantage point before.

Nice but quality of room...
Liked: Terrific location and a modern hotel with lots of amenities.
Disliked: Room was way too small. Almost too Boutiquey. No privacy for the sink or storage for essentials like toothbrush etc.

Conveniently located, happening environment and...
Liked: While the room was intimate it was good, clean, nice view. Restaurant was great. Great food and service. Comfortable. 90's bar was a nice hang out in the day since there is no lobby lounge to relax.
Disliked: The lighting system is a little confusing and the closet is too small. No drawers for clothes. Prefer not being by the elevator next time.

Awesome alternative to all the...
Liked: Very cool building and room layout. Queen w/ lofted twin was a perfect fit for us with our college-aged son. View from the rooftop bar was amazing and we were only a short distance from our entertainment location for the evening (Andy's Jazz Club).

Relaxing and fun!
Liked: It was a great location; the room was adequate. Quiet and plenty to do on-site. The food and drinks were excellent at all the bars and restaurants.
Disliked: The bathroom's layout was odd. We did not like seeing the person on the toilet versus having an opaque wall.

Not great value for money
Liked: Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, great location.
Disliked: I can’t tell you how many times I knocked my head into the useless bunk bed in a room that was meant for one or two people (there’s a double bed too, this was the only room that was available when I booked). I would have preferred to have a table to put my laptop on and a comfortable chair there. There’s no extra safety lock on the door, which made me feel unsafe (my hotel room has been broken into before with a key at another four star hotel). There’s no light in the shower, so you’re essentially showering in the dark. There’s no toilet brush. There’s hardly any space for toiletries. There’s no recycling bin so I guess everything goes into the trash and this hotel was supposed to be ‘travel sustainable level 1’? I was never offered the complimentary token for a drink that apparently I was supposed to get when I checked in. The fridge wasn’t cold. They took a $100 deposit, why? Because I, a 54 year old woman who’s here to see an art exhibition, am going to trash the room? Also, $100 isn’t going to cover that, so it just ends up pissing people off. Hopefully I’ll get it back ‘in a few days’… All of these things are not an absolute disaster, but the price I paid doesn’t reflect the level of luxury and amenities that I would expect for that kind of money ($267 a night). This more like a three star $150 a night type of place.
