Why Concert-goers love it

After the show, skip the Uber—this spot is walkable and well-connected by late-night public transit. With live music on-site every night, the show doesn’t have to end when the headliner leaves the stage. Plus, with free WiFi and flexible vibes, it’s easy to unwind post-show.

Who this Hotel is great for

Food and Drink Options

While there isn’t 24/7 room service, the neighborhood is packed with late-night eateries within walking distance. A light continental breakfast of coffee, tea, and toast is included—ideal for slow mornings after a big night out.

Nightlife Options

This hotel IS a nightlife destination. With live jazz and blues every night in the downstairs bar, you might feel like the concert experience never stops. Beyond the hotel, Queen Street West offers a mix of hip bars, lounges, and clubs, all within walking distance for those looking to keep the night going.

What People Say

Areas for Improvement

The vibe here is more “charming and musical” than luxury—so if you’re looking for plush amenities or super quiet rooms, this may not be your spot. Some rooms have shared bathrooms, so be sure to check your room type when booking. And while the breakfast is basic, it does the trick after a late night.

The Bottom Line

For music lovers who want to stay in the rhythm of the city, The Rex Hotel Jazz & Blues Bar offers a one-of-a-kind stay with live music, walkability, and serious concert-night charm.

The Rex

Liked: The location is excellent and there's inexpensive overnight parking very close.
Disliked: The room was very small and a bit run down but compared to other hotels in downtown Toronto the price is excellent. The staff is wonderful.

Liked: The location is amazing, the staff was very friendly and gave us useful advice about where to park, the beds were comfortable and the sheets very clean. The big shared bathroom was nice and spacious.
Disliked: Not possible to open the window to change the air in the room. A window AC was blocking the window and it was not useful for improving the quality of the air. The walls were a little dirty in the room and in the small shared toilet, and the furniture quite used.

Liked: The location is superb! It was near two different train stations (Osgoode and St. Patrick). Also there's Starbucks nearby like a 2minute walk from the hotel. The shower and bath is shared but it's clean.
Disliked: I like everything so far. All the things that matter to us during our stay, was there, so really there's nothing that we didn't like in our stay.

It was a quaint location...

Liked: Location, decor and pictures
Disliked: Room size, walking down the hallway with guests doors wedged open, exposing their actions inside, looked neat however my sheets had stains/stains on the walls in bathroom, my garbage bag was reused as it was dirty upon arrival, inconvenient access to ice, some confusion on where room numbers are located

Fantastic location with free continental...

Liked: The room was comfortable and large enough for us. It was reasonably quiet despite being over the bar, and we didn't hear a lot of street noise either. The staff are friendly and helpful. The complimentary toast and coffee is a definite plus. And, of course, the location is excellent.
Disliked: This hotel is very basic, and the rooms are small, but the price is rather high. For one night, including parking (which is offsite and does not belong to the hotel), the cost was $335.00. It's all about the location - and the jazz, of course.
