Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Unprofessional front desk staff and...

Liked: The hotel was in a very nice location in Henley, The beds were incredibly comfortable, including wonderful pillows.
Disliked: They did NOT give us the room we paid for. At first, the front desk told us they were sold out and gave us what they had, which was a standard king bed room and the reason for the issue was because we used Bookings.com. We asked for the manager and showed them pictures of a Superior room on their website and our Bookings.com confirmation. He offered and moved us to a family room, which was larger, but had 2 double beds. After our first night we saw housekeeping in a Superior room on our floor, which was exactly what we wanted, for it had a king bed and a proper seating area as well as a desk.

Excellent hotel. Would stay again.

Liked: Had a lovely stay. Asked for a quiet room and it was very quiet. Lovely location. Staff very helpful. Would recommend. Bed was gorgeously comfortable. Bathroom well fitted and nice toiletries provided.
Disliked: Slightly more choice at breakfast ie more juices, but that’s a personal preference.

Lovely stay in this delightful...

Liked: The position was great - next to all the shops etc but also beside the river, and our view from our room was along the river. The breakfast was delicious too. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Disliked: It was all great!

Lovely stay

Liked: Great location, lovely room, amazing food.
Disliked: No parking - cost £12 at the station, long walk with heavy bag.Lots of confusion about half board - we were advised by the restaurant manager that we had a £50 allowance each for dinner excluding drinks. Upon checking out,, we were told it was only £30 each and we therefore had a large additional bill to pay. However,, after explaining to the Reception manager and standing our ground, the bill was adjusted down, with apologies, so full marks for that!!!The food was absolutely amazing!!!

Great location, pretty hotel, needs...

Liked: Great location next to the river and bars/restaurants. There's a small drop off area at the front for luggage if needed. Spacious bedroom overlooking the front of the hotel, with views of the river :-) but was quiet enough due to double glazing if windows were kept closed. Air conditioning worked well. Lovely pedestal bath with over-shower. Booked on a dinner B&B deal, dinner was nice, but only up to the value of 30 pounds pp, but the cheapest main course was 23 (excluding the burger). Only 1 veggie option I think? Breakfast was a little disappointing, see below. But a good choice of options. Lovely terrace area out the back, great for having drinks with friends. No fridge in the rooms but Alex (restaurant manager) happily stored some items in a bar fridge overnight for me...thank you Alex!
Disliked: Wifi didn't seem to work...tried sending emails from my laptop to discover the following day they had not sent (had to use my Hotspot instead). Not sure what the problem was there. At breakfast I ordered the poached eggs with smashed avocado on sourdough, to be asked by the waitress if I wanted toast with that. I replied no (thinking she meant extra toast?) Only to receive 2 poached eggs and a dollop of avocado on a plate. Lost in translation I think. When I asked for the sourdough, they returned my plate with cold eggs and hot sourdough...not ideal...There was also no teaspoons with cups, the coffee urn was empty, milk wasn't replenished....just a few things not kept on top of really. Just a note about location...the map app on iPhone directs you 200yds up Hart Street. It's actually the Red Lion Relais Hotel you need to look for.
