Exceptional

Lovely place for short stays

Liked: Owners were friendly and helpful and the room was really clean. There was a microwave, cutlery etc (it's a place I think people commonly stay for 1 night so there's only the basics available but that was fine). NEC was within walking distance, took us about 20mins to get to the site and just a few more minutes to get to the hall the event was in, and the owners gave us great advice on food as none is supplied by them I've read some reviews that mention breakfast but I assume this is only during the busy season as breakfast wasn't available when we were there, but there were plenty pf places nearby that were easy to get to, even with the hs2 work going on, and we had no delivery problems with the takeaways we ordered. It's a pretty quiet location, even with the airport being down the road, and it's not so out of the way you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere.The bathroom was impressively clean, only a bit of mold around the shower drain but I'd expect to see it, we have some on the sealant in our bathroom as well. The shower itself was brilliant, whilst it wasn't a power shower it had a good flow of water so you aren't standing under a dribble of water wondering what you did in a past life to deserve such a miserable time. There's an extractor fan as well so the bedroom and bathroom don't end up steamed up.As the room was small it was easy to heat up with the radiator on our 1st night and it remained pretty toasty throughout our stay so staying warm definitely isn't a problem. You also get a key to the room and the side gate so you can just come and go as you please without worrying if there'll be someone up to let you in. The drive is pretty big as well so you can fit a few cars on, although it was just our car and the homeowners for our stay so we were spoilt for choice.
Disliked: It wasn't the end of the world but we didn't have a fridge in the room. Some other reviews mentioned there was one in their room and some said they didn't but I packed a cool bag with some stuff just in case. Fridge would have been helpful for the milk and the cheese I brought for breakfast but I wasn't sure what to expect or if we had to request a fridge so if we ever go again we'll double check. The mattress my partner slept on wasn't brilliant, he's come home with a bad back, but my mattress was ok but I think that happens in most places you stay. I've stayed in slightly more expensive places where the mattress was really terrible so it's just one of those things. The pole for the shower head also had chipped paint and rust on it but I only really noticed it because everything else was so clean I was just surprised it had degraded to that extent. It didn't affect my ability to have a shower at all, just out of place in an otherwise immaculate property. Those were the only faults and they weren't life altering or anything and certainly wouldn't put me off recommending the place.
