The Redan Inn

Nice pub, good food, great...

Liked: Was a nice pub in a lovely location
Disliked: The room was lovely but had a couple of small issues, but easy to solve. Toilet pull stuck each time. Bedside laps didn’t work and had a flashing bib. Shower floor and shower base could do with a good clean. However I would go back for sure, they are simple and basic issues.

Liked: At breakfast there was only one staff member that was struggling to keep up with the orders and it took longer than expected to get served.We ordered cereal to start with and a cooked breakfast, she said they didn’t have cereal that I asked for but did have granola so I went with that. She didn’t ask if any of us have any allergies. She can back 10 mins later to say they didn’t have any granola either so I asked for extra toast. Surely they know how many guests they have stopping each night so there are no excuses for running out especially when there is a supermarket nearby.When the breakfast arrived I asked for ketchup and butter and she disappeared for 5 mins and I had to get up and look for her because I expect to have this before eating.I didn’t have any extra toast but the toast they gave me was rock hard and didn’t taste like toast.
Disliked: I booked the Redan for 1 night 31st May for my wife’s birthday after a trip into Bristol.The parking at the hotel was easy in the car park.When we arrived in the room it looked nice however we soon noticed it was dusty and cobwebs everywhere all along the walls at top where it meets the ceiling.There was a bottle of water in the room that looked dirty inside and like it had been sitting there a month or two with stuff growing in it. If I had tried to drink this in the night I wouldn’t have noticed. I took this down to reception and they replaced it but there was no apologies.My wife took a shower and the water was coming out of the seal on the door because it was worn and old. She said she’ll get the manager to call us when he arrives but we didn’t receive a call.

Perfect for us just passing...

Liked: Excellent value for money for us just stopping overnight on the way to Cornwall
Disliked: Comfy rooms excellent staff and great food

Relatively small improvements in decor...

Liked: The landlord and staff were all fantastic the breakfast was perfect and we both slept well.
Disliked: There were a few issues the first being (which we pointed out to the landlord) that the bathroom was very warm. My other comments are that the toilet was stained, the room was dusty and the carpet was care worn and stained. We stay in a lot of Premier Inns and so this is the standard by which I’m judging the Redan.

Liked: A lovely welcome from the young lady. The room was superb with a great shower and the evening meal and breakfast were very good.

Liked: Very convenient location for our purposes, comfortable and quiet.
Disliked: Two people need to chairs in which to relax. Only one chair means someone has to sit on the bed, not convenient.Shower cubicle needs some maintenance to stop leaks and remove black mould.
