Disliked: On Sunday evening I returned at 6.30. The building was completely in darkness. All doors locked and blinds drawn. I tried a buzzer on one door which rang and rang then said number not available. I tried every other door. All locked. I tried the buzzer again and eventually the door opened. I then went in to an empty building. I climbed the stairs to my room on a deserted landing. Not a sound of life. After some time I returned downstairs to see if anyone had appeared. Total darkness. At just before 8 pm I decided once it was dark I would be unable to sleep alone in the building. I packed up and walked to the Holiday Inn where I had a lovely room and breakfast for 90 pounds. I went to the Red Lion on Monday morning to complain and was greeted by a surly employee who told me the building was not empty - he was there in his bedroom. And it was just a bed and breakfast! I expect a full refund for this shocking experience.

Limited appeal

Liked: Quaint building. Close to where I needed to be.The architect did a good job with the rooms.
Disliked: More staff needed. Only the manager and one other there. The manager was running the bar, taking restaurant orders, bringing food from the kitchen…together with the other person. Impossible for them. Left waiting to be shown to a table, ages to be asked for my order - then they had run out of my desired choice (pork belly) and the menu was limited and unappealing…I left.Tiny rooms, but then the building is 500 years old.

Liked: Location to IWM Duxford
Disliked: There were 3 eggs in my kettle that had been hard boiled and left. There was no bacon at breakfast.Dinner very average

Liked: Staff were amazing, got a great welcome.. upgraded our room because we wanted a bath. Great being close to the train station to visit Cambridge 2 stops away. Great food would definitely return .
