The Red Lion Hotel

Inadvisable.

Liked: Walking distance from train/bus station and the shops.
Disliked: Came back with tiny itchy red bite marks. I wanted to take a bath, but I didn’t trust the overall cleanliness of the room and it felt like I needed to buy cleaning products and do it myself, so I just stuck to showers. The towel rail was coming off the wall, the electric kettle had signs someone made coffee in it and never washed it.

Polite staff member but no...

Liked: location was handy for station
Disliked: A broken unusable shower and not having to climb 3 flights of stairs with luggage at 73 year old. Room was the smallest i've ever stayed in 2.5 mtrs x 3 mtrs. No where to hang clothes, no where to move about only on the bed or in the bathroom

Bad

Terrible hotel but food is...

Liked: The only positive is that the food in the pub was incredible and the chefs should be commended whereas the hotel needs a total overhaul as not fit for purpose.
Disliked: Upon arrival we were given our keys and shown where to go to get to our room (not taken to our room). Upon entering the hotel building (separate to the pub) there was a strong smell of smoke and mold. When we got the room (up a filthy staircase with dirty earbuds and various stains on the wall) the room was not ready with mess and rubbish left in the room from the previous guests and bed not made etc; and so we had to go back to reception to advise. There was no apology for this but we were asked to come back a bit later. The entire room had an awful smell of smoke and mold too which even lingered on the clothes we hadn't worn that were still in our bag upon our return. We seriously considered sleeping in the car as we had to attend an event nearby and did not want to return to the room. We reluctantly stayed as got back late but we slept in our clothes and left as early as we could to get away from the smell.

Liked: The staff were really friendly
Disliked: There was a damp smell in the hallway to the hotel rooms and there was no lift just a narrow old staircase tht we had to climb to the top which wasn't fun after a few drinks.Would go back there tho as it was a nice pub/restaurant which was very clean and a nice seating area outside and the rooms were OK I guess as we just literally needed it for somewhere to get our head down. Lovely friendly staff who work very hard as it was very busy. Wish we'd tried the food though now as it looked AMAZING

Was adequate for price, no...

Liked: Location and price good.
Disliked: Room was hot and windows did not open, shower did not work and water started to come through ceiling from room above in morning and no staff about to report this to.

Superb

Liked: Location, staff, clean room, everything you need in an overnight stay.
Disliked: Nothing, it was a lovely Saturday night hotel room in Luton with my sister.

Tv didn't work and price...
