Lovely 'home from home' hotel...

Liked: The hotel is quiet and peaceful, it has a homely comfortable feel about it. The food is high quality, locally sourced and beautifully cooked and presented. Great choice of items for breakfast, prepared to order. High quality toiletries in the rooms, they have thought about sustainability with refillable bottles. Fantastic, well-designed bathroom and fresh, clean decor. A nice touch is the access to their filtered 'housewater' available on request at all times, so you can fill your bottle when heading out for the day.

Disappointed and on reflection was...

Liked: Nice location. Good parking. Friendly staff. Grounds nice. Good coffee and tea in the room.
Disliked: Booked a deluxe room and we were disappointed. It was large but not deluxe. In a deluxe room I’d expect cotton sheets and good quality duvet and pillows. The decor is tired and there was black mould on the edge of the bath near the shower screen. There’s a large brown streak of what looks like sealant on the back of the toilet seat and it really doesn’t look very nice. The windows are in need refurbishing and cleaning. There’s masking tape hanging off the bathroom window and the hand rail down into the bathroom looks dirty. The room is very hot and when we tried to open the window there was noise continually from some kind of pump which came on about every 15 to twenty minutes. There’s a fan provided but that’s inadequate. We ended up not sleeping well. The breakfast was good. We ate in the restaurant which was very disappointing. The fish was greasy and didn’t taste fresh. The steak was thin, dry and sauce was bland. Dessert was unimaginative and the ‘cherry cocoa bean brûlée’ was a very mean portion with tinned or frozen cherries. All in all not a great meal. ItReally upset to be writing this. It was my wife’s 70th birthday and we felt we’d made a mistake booking the Randolph.

Road trip

Liked: Lovely bar & outside area, not bad location. Plenty of parking
Disliked: Could hear noises/talking from other rooms & in the bar . Room was ok - standard double - but the bed was literally a double bed size which is very surprising these days - I know the ads say ‘double bed room’ but still , had king & superking when ad has said double.Limited breakfast menu but well cooked & served.

Beautiful hotel in great location...

Liked: The Randolph hotel is a beautiful property in walking distance to southwold seafront and Pier. Our room on the top floor was immaculate. We were especially pleased with how spacious the shower room was. We kept our window open at night and the road was very quiet outside. I am a light sleeper and this was a very quiet room. The hosts gave us complimentary home made shortbread and were happy to provide fresh milk. Nice little touches in room such as hand made toy crab and seaside painting by local children. Would happily recommend this hotel. Would stay again
Disliked: I didn't like bread used for toast or foccacia starter, however other food was good quality and very well presented.
