Superb

Liked: Friendly and responsive staff who were happy to help answer any questions I had. Location was pretty good, with street cars outside or a 20-25 minute walk into the French Quarter. I didn't take the street car, as I enjoyed strolling into town each day. Food readily available next door, with Courtyard Brewery or the Avenue Pub within a 5 minute walking radius if you fancy a good selection of beers. The Quart(?) is The Quisby bar, and also offers some good drinking options without needing to leave the Hostel.I stayed in the 4-bed shared accomodation room.
Disliked: Mileage may vary when it comes to your fellow guests; generally a very positive experience, and never felt unsafe - but as to be expected with hostel stays, you'll probably be woken up once or twice as other people move around and enjoy their experience. So just keep that in mind!

Unexpected Turn of events

Liked: I enjoyed the hospitality
Disliked: There was an incident April17,2024 and there was a cop that came in with my roommate and I was unaware. As I opened the door I was putting on my pants and I saw her come in, followed behind her was a lady cop. I was unaware, confused and scared and I wasn't expecting my stay to be like that; so therefore I checked out at that exact moment and the cop watch me pack up my belongings and I left out. And they told me I would not get a refund so I will not be staying at the Quisby anymore.

Liked: Hostel atmosphere, music playing, bar and coffee nook , elevator to third floor,mix of young and older travellers socializing in entry and bar area
Disliked: No smoking area that was available on property. Just go out on the sidewalk-street. But, this country is working on banning smoking anywhere, while war, pollution and pesticides are tolerated, somehow.

Liked: The room was big enough and there were enough outlets per bed. The room was clean and included airconditioning. There was an en-suite bathroom.
Disliked: The personnel was absent or unfriendly. Often I felt invisible at the front desk when I needed something. The neighbourhood wasn't great or very safe. There were many homeless people (which ISN'T the issue) but some were clearly in need of mental support and kept entering the premises. The personnel tried their best to keep them out, but I didn't feel safe sitting in the common area. The breakfast was OK initially but it seems like the hostel was not being restocked because every day after there was less available. At day 3 even the salt and pepper were absent.
