If you get a room...

Liked: A great location, lovely bar and restaurant and decor lovely.
Disliked: Lovely bar and garden but an old hotel so noisy with people walking above and I was in a very musty smelling room in the basement. The remote control needs a very good clean.

Charming stay, but lacking in...

Liked: We loved the spacious room and charming decor. Most of the staff were genuinely lovely, and the quality of the breakfast (emphasis on quality only) was excellent. The view from Room 17 was beautiful, and staying in a Victorian house truly felt like stepping back in time. That said, there were a few notable misses...
Disliked: We stayed over a particularly hot weekend, and unfortunately, the room's temperature became unbearable. The provided fan just wasn’t powerful enough, so despite the comfortable bed, we didn’t sleep well. The shower had very low pressure, making it almost impossible to wash our hair without spending close to half an hour. There was also no fridge in the room, which made it difficult to keep anything from melting in the heat.Breakfast was another letdown. While the quality was great, it is absurdly overpriced for what you get. I wouldn’t recommend having it at the hotel, especially with so many great brunch and breakfast spots nearby. The location was okay. However, we should have paid more attention to the fact that it’s on a very steep street, which made going up and down a bit of a challenge. When we book a hotel, we mainly look for a good night’s sleep, an excellent shower, and a standout breakfast. Sadly, all three missed the mark here.Would I recommend it? Perhaps, if the price is right, without the breakfast, and certainly not during hot weather.

The best holiday since COVID

Liked: Queer wall paper. Excellent (one whole star) restaurant. The chefs came out to explain each dish. The wine pairing was almost divinely complementary. The garden space is one of the most elegant I’ve ever been in.
Disliked: Check in didn’t suit me - I would have preferred to be given a key and directions. Breakfast might prioritise rapid coffee for caffeine addicts. While most of the staff were an absolute joy ….
