The Queens Hotel

We really enjoyed our stay at the Queens Hotel. The room we had looked out over the river - it was spotless and the room was lovely. The bed was extremely comfortable, which meant a good night's sleep was had. The breakfast the next day was delicious and well worth the additional cost. The staff in the hotel were all very friendly and keen to help. Only problem was the cost of the NCP Parking which cost us £18. We had booked hotel parking but due to flooding this option wasn't available. No criticism at all with the hotel.

Liked: Hotel stay.
Disliked: Car parking costs.

Had a fantastic five day...

Liked: Brilliant staff. Very relaxing feel to the hotel. Excellent breakfast
Disliked: Nothing to dislike. Excellent value for cost.

Exceptional

Great location but too noisy...

Liked: Bed was comfortable. Central locationOn site parking
Disliked: 3rd floor rooms very hot. No air con - needing open windows. Very loud noise until 4 in the morning which was disturbing even with windows closed (noise not the fault of the hotel but poor soundproofing and lack of air on made it the worst 2 nights of sleep I have had in years). Seals on sink cracked. Shower curtain did not keep water in so bathroom flooring lifting. Temperamental TV.

A good choice for York...

Liked: Excellent location, on the river & just a short walk from the city centre. Staff were friendly & efficient. Rooms were clean & well equipped, & ours was overlooking the river. Breakfast had a good range of hot & cold food & drinks. Pre booked parking which was good value for 24 hours. We would definitely stay again next time we're in York.
Disliked: We were travelling with our daughter & grandson & would have preferred rooms together, or at least on the same floor. There was a bit of black mould in the bathroom, but otherwise very clean. I found cooked breakfast items far too salty, would prefer them to be cooked without so people can add their own.

Queens stay review

Liked: Location was excellent. Parking provided but had to pay despite having a blue badge. Beds were comfy.
Disliked: Basic breakfast. You had to order eggs that weren't scrambled and staff seemed put out by this. Greeted by steps although there was a special lift it was cumbersome to use. Filling this form when asked did it meet my expectations I put no but it keeps changing to yes or exceeded expectations.

Liked: Room was clean and nice view of the river.
Disliked: Towels a bit small and no air con although we did have a fan in the room

Disliked: Rooms outdated beds uncomfortable stairs to get up to reception terrible value for money
